cayenne versus bmw x5

hi all

bought my other half new x5 6 months ago, have had handbrake failure twice
first time called out break down plugged computer into the car & reset electronic handbrake
also showed us how to release handbrake manually
second failure released handbrake manually booked car in with bmw-wanted to charge me £25 for the use of a courtsey car-refused to pay after repair,advised by service manager not to return to this service branch,once they have got your money( after sales service rubbish ) i wont say what dealership= just dont go to watford(should have bought other half cayenne[:mad:])

It's not too late Chris. I am selling a nearly 3 year old S which hasn't missed a beat or needed a workshop visit, other than for servicing. It will be replaced with a White GTS coming on the 24th of this month.

If you were thinking, no I don't want a BMW in exchange[:)]
 
As an everyday family SUV I'd prefer the X5.

Build quality, reliability and customer care will probably be similar across the board, but the Cayenne will cost more to run. Porsche don't offer a match for the BMW 3.0d's economy, and tyre wear, servicing and depreciation are all likely to be more expensive.

I know that both Porsche and BMW offer top end performance variants, but I've never seen the point of these big, heavy, fast and thirsty SUVs. They'll never handle like a well resolved saloon/estate, let alone a sports car. And at least the X5 is bearable to look at[&:]
