Cayenne Warranty

Apologies if this has been discussed before but why do you get 3 years with a Toureg, 3 with Mercedes and only 2 years warranty with Cayenne?

Good question, which currently applies to all new Porsches.

However, assuming the Warranty isn't extended, there is a grey area, thereafter, known as 'sympathetic warranty'. If you have a justifiable claim in subsequent years then, in theory, Porsche will consider full or partial support. Quite a few factors influence this:

- PCGB will normally only support those cars that they have officially imported to the UK.
- Should be OPC supplied and serviced
- Mileage/No. of owners
- Customer loyalty
- Nature of claim

Whilst people remain happy to buy Porsches with 2 year warranties the situation is unlikely to change.

If we want Porsche to offer longer warranties then we have the power. All we have to do is:

(a) ask about the warranty before placing our deposit
(b) Say something like "Oh? Only two years? I guess not, then"
(c) walk out of the OPC and not buy a Porsche.

That will give them the message soon enough. But, of course, the next MY's prices would just go up £725 (or whatever it is that the third year costs). You don't get owt for nowt, especially from Porsche.

At present, we choose to buy the cars with a two year warranty. Either we ask about it or we don't; so Porsche is entitled to infer that either we think it's worth it at the price, or we don't give a monkey's and just want to get into our nice shiny sports car.
