Does anyone know if 18" Cayenne wheels with 255/55 tyres on them will fit a 944 or not? Even if not..well..just might buy them - £150 for a set of 4 with good tyres..

surely if they're only 18" they should fit, I think there is someone one here who had 18" mark1 GT3 alloys (whatever they're called) on their car.

I'll go have a look tomorrow..they're just in a local scrapyard..obviously i'd have to just buy them and leave them for a while as i don't have enough spending money for a set of low profile 18" tyres..and 255/55 would really fit like shown on picture above..

255/55 - are you sure? 255/35 tyres on the back would be the size to fit a 944, but only if the offset of the wheels is right.

I'm sure I looked at some of these when we still had the S2.

1. 18" Cayenne wheels were the same width front & rear (maybe not all)
2. More importantly - I think the PCD is 5x130. Which is too big.

All Porsche 5 stud is 5 x 130 Mik - I think you're confused there for some reason.

I have just realised the question is Cayenne not Cayman - at least that makes sense of the 255/55 tyre sizes. Basically if we're talking rears they will fit if they are 9.5" wide with an offset in the low 50's ET range. Much difference on offset or anything much wider than 9.5" and you could be looking at fouling (though it might be OK). I think you'll be tighter on the front though I know Rick has some pretty wide front rubber on WUF.

As Mik says they will be the same size all round which isn't really ideal.

It would be interesting to find out their weight. I suspect they're a pretty heavy wheel as they're designed for some occasional off road use in a car (I use that term loosely) that weighs circa 2 tonnes.
Best regards,
Peter

Indeed - as an aside I have a chap on RS246.com trying to tell me unsprung weight is a good thing... [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

He bought MTM Bimoto wheels which I believe are well over £2k worth and which I assumed to be light. When I had already said I didn't like them and then someone posted they are heavier than the OE ones I said that surprised me as I thought the reason to buy them was weight and I think he took the hump.

Don't forget the Cayenne is not a Porsche - it's a VW Toureg so i'm not sure if they've adopted the VW or the Porsche PCD. If you need to fit spacers then it you might be able to convert from one PCD to the other.

I've often wondered if the 6-pot brakes might ba able to be applied to a 944 though.

The wheels will fit if they meet the criteria that Fen has already mentioned

The tyres however will not. A height profile of 55 on a 255 wide tyre will make the overall diameter of the tyre 4 inches more than it should be and possibly similar to Marks picture above :ROFLMAO:
