Cayenne - which one for towing a caravan?

Hi all
Currently tow an 1800kg caravan with a BMW X5 40d - 313bhp, 550nm. Perfect, but time to change.
Would go for the S diesel 4.2v8, but it is not euro 6. My questions, hope someone can give guidance:
1. Apart from London congestion charge, what is the downside of not being euro 6 (not interested in the tree huggers views)
2. If not the V8, which one to buy - does anyone on here tow a 'van? If so, is the base diesel good enough when towing? (long continental journeys with long uphill drags)
The base V6 diesel is way down on BPp but has slightly more torque compared to the X5, would go for the petrol S but worried about the real world fuel consumption with a van on. I currently get circa 22 - 25mpg with van, and 32 - 35 without van.

Hope someone can give practical advice - thanks in advance.

I have a Diesel S V8 which tows a number of trailers including my daughters horse box ( Horse is 17 hands so trailer, horse and kit are a lot of weight) which it tows easily. The V8 diesel has massive torque ( 860 NM which is more than a Turbo S) so ideal for towing plus very nice to drive. The standard V6 diesel will be cheaper to run and has less torque but I am sure it will tow a braked trailer of 1800kg but you may like to check its towing capacity. The V8 also does not use the addblue stuff but I am told will do in future models. Petrols will be very thirsty when towing so I would go for a diesel

Thanks Bob
Yes, I agree that the V8 is the one, but worried about not being Euro 6. Waiting for a reply from Porsche - I have asked them if it will be 6 by the time I take delivery in April 2016.

The V6 has the same towing capacity at 3500KG, but I don't think has "enough" power after my current X5. I cross the Pyrenees regularly, and the X5 just sails up the long gradients - don't want to be slowing down with an underpowered car!!

The S petrol has the power, but I reckon I'd be lucky to get 15mpg whilst towing, and thats just not good enough.
Cheers
Paul

Maybe that is why they are using the Addblue in the new V8s to get that rating but not sure. Your OPC should be able to advise

Well Adblue is used to get the rating, but no mention yet on the website or brochure of it being used by the Cayenne. Awaiting response from OPC.......

OPC have just confirmed that all cars from November production will be euro 6, using the adblue system.
