Afterall, if Ann Widecombe went in for a facelift, she's not going to come out looking like Kate Moss.
New ML might be worth a closer look.
If you look through the "posts" on this forum you will see that there are known problems with: water pipes, tailgate windows, coil packs etc.
My son brought a 4.5 Turbo auto with high miles (110k) and has done many more. He needed a vehicle to carry, wife, two kids with all equipment and a dog. It is a great car for a family. They all travelled in it to visit our daughter in central France. He had to have a new set of tyres fitted and 5 coil packs cracked so all 8 were changed. He only paid about £9000 but got a hell of a lot of car for the money. As long as you accept that it will cost you money then it is a joy to drive and own.
He is now planning to get a new VW Tiguan so the Cayenne will be for sale at the end of September. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks for the reply and advice. I had heard that the water pipes can be an issue , the coil packs I hadn't heard of before. How much did they cost your son to replace if you don't mind me asking? Also, did he have any problems with the pipes on his car? I was thinking of changing my car after Christmas, your son's will be long gone by then I would presume as they don't seem to hang around long. I did find a few items on the forum that you mentioned. Also, is it true that the VW Tuareg, Audi Q7 and Cayenne share the same body?
Kind Regards
Graham
The full set of coil packs fitted cost in the order of £600 at Porsche Centre Hatfield. The water pipes have been alright but the car did need a header tank just after he bought it.
It is my understanding that the VW Tuareg, Audi Q7 and Cayenne all share the same platform but the bodies, trim and engines and transmissions are different.
Keep in touch.
