Cayman 2.9 coolant bleed after hose replacement

I need to replace the leaking lower coolant hose in the front wheel arch, thought I’d give it a go at home after reading the guide in the technical section. It looks straight forward enough but I could do with more information on topping up and bleeding (burping) the system afterwards.

Its a Gen 2 so doesn’t have the bleed valve by the filler cap.

Can anybody point me in the right direction for a guide or even write a quick step by step on how they bled theirs with details of which caps to open, where to add the fluid etc.

Thanks in advance...

Matt,

Haven't done the job myself, so can't give hands-on tips, but I think you'll need to get the engine cover off to get access to the expansion tank cap and bleed valve. The dealers use a vacuum device to evacuate the system but I believe it helps to raise the rear of the car to assist in getting the air out. It's a big coolant system so you'll probably need to run the engine for quite a while to get all the air out.

You may find this link useful, although I'm sure there's more information online:

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the link, the vacuum method is probably the safest way, I was hoping there was a diy method to save the expense and allow me to complete the job at home.
