I don't know if any of you have been enquiring too, but today my local dealer in Nottingham said that if I specced a car now, it would be delivered in 'the first quarter' of next year. As we are due to leave the EU at the end of this year and there is no sign of a trade deal at the moment, does this mean I'd be leaving a deposit on something I can't know the price of? I'm not destitute, but don't have bottomless pockets, so I told them I'd wait to see how things pan out.

Have any members got expertise or thoughts on this situation?

Thanks in anticipation.

I read that some dealers are advising buyers that a 10% price hike would occur in the event of a no-deal arrangement. Tricky times for Porsche orders with their 3 month plus lead times.

If you're really serious about wanting a car, could you ask your SA to see if they can get you a build slot in 2020?

That's a surprisingly long lead-time Paul, but probably reflects demand and limited build slots.. Maybe you should phone around to see if you can get an earlier delivery elsewhere?

The price hike reflects the fact that in the event of a no-deal Brexit we could be trading under WTO rules. However, the 10% levy would apply only to the base price which excludes VAT, so the effective price increase would be 5.6% including VAT. It all depends upon whether or not the importer decides to pass on the increase. Silly question; we're talking Porsche here and of course they will..!!
