Much as expected with a projected 15bhp power hike, modified front and rear PUs plus equipment upgrades such as 20" wheels and PASM.

Price ~ £55,000 for the Cayman.

Possible debut in April - New York or Beijing shows.

Sadly, no guarantee of that in the immediate future (if at all) unless sales start flagging. Unlikely, I know, but if the 15bhp power hike is just an ECU tweak maybe Porsche will consider making it available to 981S owners...for a price.! Cliff, I think that the equipment might include leather, sport design steering wheel and maybe PSE and full climate control but we'll have to wait for the full spec. Interesting to read on p-9 that the Florida dealership who let the cat out of the bag last September is being sued by Porsche..! Jeff

If the extra ££ is for a bundle of existing options then little effort has gone into the GTS but let's wait and see. I like how it says the engine will be tuned to develop 15bhp more, rather than saying the engine will be de-tuned less than it was de-tuned before[;)] I can see the brochure saying the engineers worked hard on the engine to find a few more horses. No they didn't, it comes out the box with 350 in the Carrera, then they work hard to find just the right amount of de-tune for product placement[;)] Still, Porsche is very good at keeping secrets and springing surprises - nobody thought the new targa roof would be motorised. They can also be very predictable at certain points in a product's lifecycle and the journalists use that to fill in the blanks with some safe guesses. I have a feeling Porsche has something more special in store for the 981 platform and if it doesn't come on the GTS, maybe further down the line... It's already predominantly aluminum and there's already a Sport Chassis available, so the ingredients of the 987 R won't cut it to make a 981 R. So there could be more enhancements being developed for the 981...

Quite 6. Some time ago Andreas Preuninger indicated that his team had concluded their work on the 981 Cayman. Clearly this is not the full outcome from this work, so hopefully we can look forward to future enhancements throughout the 981 development cycle. Jeff

ORIGINAL: Chris_in_the_UK Donning my cynic hat....... Porsche are not going to give the Cayman a spec to usurp the 911 anytime soon IMHO..........
Hi Chris I totally agree with you on that. Thats why they only gave the Cayman R 330bhp. A&G
