Cayman GTS on Top Gear 22/2/15

Was it really 2 seconds slower round the track than the Corvette? Looked to me like there was nothing in it. Also, how can they describe it as 'dowdy'? The 981 Cayman looks fantastic (although I am biased!).

TBH Hammond is a Porsche fan so the result did surprise a little but compared to a bright yellow corvette it does lack the Wow factor Me I'd have Porsche any day Loved the shot of instument panel when for a split second you could see 12.8 average MPG guess that was on track

Obviously not trying hard enough then......[;)]

TBH Hammond is also a serious Yank tank fan so there was no surprise with where he would be going especially as he relishes trying to be as asinine with his waffling these days as the tall clown likes to be [:D] Personally I would take the Porsche any day just because it probably has far more usable performance, slicker gearbox in either format, RHD, more user friendly proportions, longer service intervals, probably much more cost effective servicing charges and far more choice of dealers to go to

Did you also notice the manual Corvette had paddle shifters? There is a 8 speed paddle shift option but on the manual car they are used for something else.....[8|] Switching the rev matching on and off, apparently. I think it's a ghastly looking thing. Edit - and it's got a 6.2lt push rod engine making a pathetic 74bhp/litre[;)] compared to the Cayman's 100/litre[:)]

I can't imagine parting with my GTS anytime soon, but if all you care about is bang for your buck and lap times, the Corvette makes a decent case for itself. Size alone would rule it out for me - I prefer my cars measured in metres, not acres.

I like the sound of the Z06 better - 650 horses and 650 torques [:)]- but it's still not a looker... http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette-z06-supercar.html Oddly, although it looks the size of a football pitch it is only 10cm longer and 7cm wider (without wing mirrors!) than the GTS

That's a decent amount on a 2 seater sports car, our narrow roads and also can't get away from its LHD!

Give or take it's the same size as the 991 Carrera. The turbo/4s are a bit wider. I thinksome folk on here quite like LHD![;)] https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.asp?m=865174&mpage=1&key=lhd

Indeed - but they were still not comparing like with like!
