Cayman leather options

Not really up to date on how all the Porsche leather options work. What I'd like, is the seats in a deep red colour (to contrast again my Seal or Atlas Grey paint), but the rest of the interior in the standard black. So my questions are:

1. Can you get a deep-red colour for the seats? (do Porsche do one, and how much would it be? or can they match a sample, and how much would it be?)

2. If they CAN do the seats, do you HAVE to have the rest of the interior in that colour, or can you just choose which bits are that colour (or none at all)? In an ideal world, I'd like to have, say, the gear-stick gaiter, and door inserts in the same colour, but the rest of it just black (especially the dash, which I hate in any colour apart from black).

Thanks!

I think you will be looking at the "Exclusive Programme" for that - Or getting the dash re-trimmed when it is delivered (it might be cheaper).
Still going to be silly money though.

[;)] Thats where you OPC salesperson comes into the equation. Make him / her do some work for there commission but I think you will be put off by the delivery delay and high prices charged if they would even entertain your request in the first place :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Also every pound spent in this department will probably not be seen again come PX time []

If they entertain the idea of a mix 'n match interior, I fear it will be prohibitively expensive to go for the Exclusive interior options - in that it may cost you 2 or 3 grand which, realistically is money better spent on big wheels, PCM or indeed a holiday for 2 in the Cayman Islands (Cayman, geddit?[:D]).

I asked the OPC about a special order colour (not even an Exclusive colour) when ordering my 987 and he said, well, it'll look nice but it's a complete waste of wonga.

But... It's your car. It depends on what is important to you - that's why they give you the option [:)]

(Be pretty boring if we all went for Silver with Boxster Red interior wouldn't it...[;)])

Two-tone interior (including black and red) now introduced on 911 but not Boxster or Cayman. So definately exclusive option. Also don't expect any Cayman orders for Exclusive options to be accepted before next Spring as all early cars will be "standard".

Since it is only the seats you want in different colour then they might tolerate the idea though they don't come in deep red (assuming you want to match the brake calipers red) the closest option is Terracotta in special leather (below is a screengrab from the Porsche car configuration site). Sorry didn't have time to play around with Photoshop to change rest of the interior to black.

I was offered the two-tone, black plus blue, red or grey, leather interior when I specced my Cayman recently.

What is this 2-tone interior? Got any pics? And how much? Not heard of it before. Thanks.

The Porsche web-site has details on the 911 under colours.

I note it also haso a black/grey two-tone option on the Cayman details. I'd be intersted to know if anyone has tried to order it yet as no exclusive options until mid 2006 was what I was told.

Had a look on the 911 configurator- I can see the options listed, but how do you actually see them? (if you know what I mean). I can only see the outside of the car, there doesn't seem to be any option to see the interior. Or am I missing something?

The car configurator should allow to view alternative interior shots as you define the spec.

My office computer does not have the right software to use the configurator and I can't download it (not allowed!), but I have looked at home before and know that the inside views used to be there, so try it and see!

Let me know how you get on.

This was available on the old configurator version (which used Macromedia Shockwave and you could do all sort of fancy zoom ins, 360 spin, etc); the current one (with the new site) only let you look at things in details if it has an (i) next to the option but that is also not interactive it is just a static image...

Would the two-tone be something like this:

which is from the Exclusive page or is this the mega fully customised upgrade which I think is some £3,000? the two-tone option is some £2,125...

Lazza, I'm on my office pc as well, so that could explain it, if I don't have the right software. I'll have a go at home tonight.

THX911 - now, I like that red!!! But only for the seats though. There is far too much red there, which is precisely why I only want the seats (and maybe 1 or 2 other small bits if poss).

I didn't see the two-tone, but it was described as basically black with seat sides and door centres in the contrasting colour. It was the same price as the special order colours, £2k or so, and I believe is also available now on the Boxter S.

No, that's definitely a one-off. I think the pictures in one of the US magazine articles show a black and stone interior. Can't remember whether R&T or C&D, but both articles are on the CaymanClub site.

I saw the two-tone interior at my local OPC last week - black and grey on a Boxster S. I'm going again next week and will take a pic and post.

The colour combination you describe is EXACTLY what I'm after for my Cayman - seats only in red, atlas/seal exterior. I shall make enquiries but I reckon it's going to be very expensive.
