Cayman on the track

I have taken the plunge and took my Cayman on Bedford autodrome. Only 500 miles under its belt but could not wait any longer. Switched PSM off and sport mode on the PASM. Wow it really handles, completely flat round the circuit. I could not shake it. Great fun, the tracton control light on the dash kept flicking on, so it looks like you cannot completely switch all the computers off. I think if you regularly do track days then the RS is needed.
You can now keep up with Caterhams in all the corners and then overtake as you come out. Kept up with a 997 no problem. I also found less tyre wear than my 997 even with the same Michelin tyres.
My next track day is in March when the car should be looser so I will keep you informed.

Hi James

You are mad! Totally mad... but what fun.

Seriously, glad that the tire wear seems a lot better. I wonder what it will be like with 18"

The reason why the PSM light flickers is because it will still cut in if you are about to disappear into the armco (ie as soon as the front wheels enter the ABS range). You cannot switch off all handling devices. Read my artice in PP entitled 'Handling Devices' (June 2005).
