As predicted in March here: [link=http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=611366]http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=611366[/link]

330 hp and performance figures that sit between the Cayman S and Cayman R of course. I'd be interested to hear opinions on whether people would prefer to buy the S Black Edition or the R. Yes they serve slightly different desires in terms of driving experience but i'm interested in which desires are greater. Yes the S Black Edition is a limited edition but the sales numbers might be similar for both during the remaining life of the 987c platform.

I remember seeing a post that it was coming but now it is here. Putting limited edition cosmetics to one side, why not just have all Cayman S's at 330 hp for the rest of the production run? The R still has its place as the lighter racier variant.

Shall we predict some more 'Black' editions ?? Let's see what's missing ? The 'Cayenne' the 'Panamera' and perhaps the 'Pedal Car' [:)]

No doubt there will be [:D] The Cayenne Blk Edn & Panamera Blk Edn probably wouldn't have any more extra power, like the 911 Blk Edn. I reckon the 911 Blk Edn should've been based on the C2S with X.51 Powerkit, instead of being purely cosmetic.

A few thoughts on Black edition marketing Currently you can have your boggo Audi saloon remapped to give higher power output with a software change at the Audi dealership without breaking any Warranty rules. So (and this is while I watch some pigs fly past) wouldn't it be nice if Porsche contacted me with my 6 month old Cayman S and offered for £xxx you can have the 330bhp software upload while you have a chat about your next car and a coffee. Perhaps I'll take this up with Geoff Turrell tomorrow night at the BRM Club presentation or with Cambridge OPC on Saturday when my Wife has a go in the Boxster Black. A while ago you'd wait a few years between facelifts on a Porsche to get a power increase (or go the Techequipment route) now it seems they already have them in the bag when they introduce a new model ready for the competition to catch up (which with power being released in the ECU is in months and not years), one of the motoring shows when testing the Cayman S knocked the modern Porsche methodology of introducing a car to fit into a marketing slot and not introducing a car to be the best engineered it can be at that point in time. Yes I know I could go outside of Porsche for power increases but why should I have to and affect my warranty. The Cayman S is a sublime handling car just begging for another 50 horses is the limited number Black edition route the best solution to keep Porsche ahead of the field- I think not. Paul (wishing I had a GT3 engine in my Cayman S with perhaps some ceramic brakes to stop me)
