Cayman-S with red accented body bits.

Hi. I have seen a nice Cayman-S advertised, but it seems to have some odd red accented body parts on it.

From what I can see in the initial images, it has the Cayman-S badge in red and the bottom of the front bumper/splitter in red.

Does anybody know if this was a factory option, or has it been "boy racered" up by the previous owner.

It's a nice car, but it does make it look very "chavy" to be honest.

Your advice and wisdom would be appreciated.

Oh, does anybody know where I might find a list of "factory" fit equipment and optional extras for the S please, as I am not sure what was supposed to be fitted as standard or not fitted as standard to most of the cars I have seen.

Thanks.

There is no factory option for the 'racer boy' mod.

Nice one, thanks for that. I thought it was a little strange, as I have never seen the like before. Rob.

From my recent experience specifying a Cayman S on the dealers system, which has a few more options available than the "Build your Cayman S" section of porsche.com, there ARE some exterior colour-accent factory options available: * Front grill sections - standard colour is black * Front splitter (or lower bumper section - whatever it's called) - standard colour is same as body colour * Side intakes - standard colour is same as body colour * Lower portion of door mirrors - standard colour is same as body colour (I might have missed some) You can specify each of these (or any combination) in silver - as a cost option. I don't know for certain, but I wouldn't be surprised, that you could specify any of the above in any available Porsche colour that you want. You can also have the "Cayman S" lettering along the side of the car in a variety of colours - with some pretty nasty variations possible (orange lettering on a red car for example?) although it would seem that most people stick to "tasteful" colour combinations. I think that you can also re-specify the colour of the Cayman S badge - at least from silver to black, but perhaps to other colours too...

You can have almost anything you want through the Exclusive programme: http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/personalisation/ However it's pretty easy to change colours of most removable items yourself - or via a bodyshop

Actually for the launch model and for at least one year after the default was for the two splitter pieces was silver. Rich

Hi I have a Cayman S with a number of changes done by Porsche & all the parts are porsche approved & with reference to the Front Splitter as my car in White I chose to keep it White but my Wheel are Red & my Rear Badge is also Red & by keeping the Splitters white I chose to get the fog light bars sparyed Red too, I also added the Cayman S side stripes to my car & added Red Stripes to the Front & Rear corners parts from a 997 GT3 RS. Mark knows my car well as I attend his Belvoir Castle Boxster Day in 2009. If this Cayman that is for sale is a white car the extra Red bits will look Ok. Yours Truly Kevin ( Porsche Cayman S Gen 1 Model ) [:)]

Kevin's car looks great! It looks like a mid-engined GT3 (now there's something Porsche is missing...) [8D]
