Cut me up too. Coming off the slip road at J12 (OPC Reading i presume) He was flooring it. Got his photo reg no RA55MLE, in Silver, going like a little rocket between Junction 12 and 10 on the M4. We both tried to get into the outside lane at the same time and i had to break and let him go first or it would have been a very naked Cayman[:D]

It was Vauxhall Astra day for me, but i managed to catch him up. Wish i was in my 911, then we could have REALLY had fun.
Not a very pleasant evening weather wise.

Daro, must admit, very very nice car indeed.[][8|]

I would like to say that while I agree that these events offer a fantastic evening with a "premier" like feel and are well worth going to even if you have no intention of buying a new car,as an "ex" Sales person at OPC Reading I would suggest that perhaps instead of "milking" the the people running the event you might like to bear in mind that all the Reading staff (excluding the event girls and bar staff) attend and offer information on a voluntary basis directly after a long 10 hour days work! I understand the assumption that as this event must cost rather a lot the OPC's must be charging too much and you could well be right, however the reality is these events are inforced by PCGB and each showroom has to cover part of the costs. As an OPC showroom is run almost as an individual business when comes to finance within the company you can imagine the impact these events must have. I worked at both the 997 & 987 lanches and by 11pm was exhausted (having begun working at 7.30am) I am looking forward to attending this one as a guest! Of course I have to say that when it comes to the upper management of an OPC milk them all you like!

Hi Lou,
We are only having a bit of fun and don't take it personally. I think every single employee at Porsche Reading should be commended for their hard work over the years. And Porsche themselves for providing THE BEST CARS in the world bar none.[:)]

I speak to many Porsche employees, from Julian Hardy down to the engineers (who are more important) on a regular basis, as i work next door. They also spend 50k per year on my software, so i have several interests.

But when i say 'Go and milk them' I don't really mean eating a couple of quids worth of sausage rolls and tuck biscuits.[:)]

At the 997 launch i spoke to many senior Porsche people about the company vision, direction, perception of the market etc. It was a very well worthwhile evening. I have invested a considerable amount of money in one of their products therefore i should be entitled to some useful advice and rapport with senior management.

My 996 C4 was inside the showroom for the 997 launch last year thanks to Geoff Cook PCGB, and i felt i played an integral part to the ceremony.

I am an OPC customer Lou. I spend $1000 per month (sorry the pound sign doesn't work on my keyboard for some reason)[:D] paying off my 996 to Porsche finance.

I have my 996 serviced at Reading at considerable expense.......and i WILL be trading it in for a 997 or even a Cayman next year. I was just very fortunate to be able to touch one yesterday thanks to the kindness of a certain sales individual. He may just have swayed me in my decision thinking.

Yes i know you guys work your socks off at OPCs and we of course always appreciate it.

He even let me take this picture for the forum. First Caymans in the UK

Thanks mate

Simon, what day were you out there? I was in the area yesterday (Friday) and decided to drop in and I was told that all the Caymans have now been sent to various locations and they had non left at the back. So he gave me the New Cayman S hard-back sales brochure and the Tequipment brochure which had just arrived...

Hi Mate,

It was last Thursday. You just have to look like you mean business. And i got away with it.

Bl00dy lovely car. I really envy anyone who is about to pick up a Cayman.

I was in Monaco today and saw one being driven around. Got more stares than the Ford GT 40[]

Pictures posted shortly.

Don't forget that a Ford GT 40 is driven by Clarkson.

Clarkson in a Ford? When the best rapper is white {Eminem}, the best golfer is black {Woods}, Germany will not join in a war, and Clarkson drives a Ford you know that the world is changing!! [:D][:D][:D]

Hey Julian, I think Chris Rock (The comedian) and a lot of us will have an issue with you adding a nobody (Clarkson) to his monologue: [:D]:ROFLMAO:[:D]

"You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named Bush, Dick, and Colon. Need I say more?" - Chris Rock 2003 [;)]

I did not know the origin of the comments which I made save that I added Clarkson just for fun. He has limited influence when others consider his views about cars... I cannot speak for his views on world politics.

I'm sure that, as a Lawyer, Julian will manage to find that Chris Rock has stolen HIS act, and that the defendant, sorry I mean Mr Rock, owes Julian a lot of money...

(sorry the pound sign doesn't work on my keyboard for some reason)

Simon... You probably have your keyboard set to English (United States). Click on the "EN" symbol on the windows toolbar (bottom right of screen normally), then select English (United Kingdom) and see if that helps.

Bloody septics!

Maybe Chris Rock and you think alike, is that a compliment? [:)] To be honest I'm sure Chris extended this quote from someone else quote, but it was quite a talk on the net in 2003...

So getting to take home a new car isn't that much of a perk then? [8D]

I'm not joking about more people staring at the Cayman than the Ford GT 40. Its a special car and im sure it won't have the unreliability problems that the GT 40 has had. Clarkson your a mug.[:'(]

I'm sure if there was a Carrera GT next to it, the Cayman S would have still got more stares... it will soon become common and something new will take the stares... don't you think?

What day is the Reading launc event?

Paul the Reading launch is on the 25th November. Arrive between 7 and 7:30. There will be food and drinks and 4 Caymans in the showroom for you to sit in. I would call probably call ............ 0118 930 3911 and request you and your friend be put on the list. But as i have said before they won't turn you away if you aren't on the 'Guest List'![;)]

Mojo,

For £53k you can buy that 02 plate GT3 that's for sale. See the GT3 thread. That would be a very tough decision. OH, and what are these extras you are talking about???? Are you going to share it with us?

Cayman Baby bottle warmer perhaps
Cayman Starbucks Venti triple shot Holder
His and her Porsche Design gym bags

Personally, i would strip it out and have her naked and raw[:D]

Si

The Reading launch is Friday 25th.. thats the date on my invite anyway.

GT3 not a daily drive...

Not too sure what you are implying with the options you have listed either.

Yep it is 25th.

On a serious note[] I've seen the list of extras for the Cayman and you could spend £50k+ if you really wanted.

Adaptive sports seats £1900
PCM (Communications Management) £2000
Ceramic brakes for Cayman £5500

Fair comment about the GT3.[;)]

Hi Kish,

True, Carrera GTs are old now, people want whats en vogue.

I couldn't get the Cayman and the GT 40 together, but i took this GT 40 picture after it had just come round the hairpin in Monaco on Tuesday. Nice car. But still a Ford.[:-]
