Cayman Tour 2012 - Champagne Country!

DETAILS OF THIS TRIP WAS PUBLISHED IN THE DECEMBER ISSUE OF PP. TIME IS RINNING OUT, SO ALL INTERESTED PARTIES WHO HAVE NOT YET BOOKED, PLEASE GET IN CONTACT BEFORE THE CLOSING OFF DATE AS SHOWN BELOW!

The first Cayman trip was to Champagne country, and 5 years on it's time to return.

I have a maximum of 20 double rooms available to me, all of which need to be confirmed by the end of January, this event is open to all Porsche members, not just our register..

This is the plan so far :

Depart Dover Fri 29th June to Calais
Drive to our hotel near Epernay
Evening out in Epernay

Sat 30th June - AM drive through the local villages and vineyards
Lunchtime stop at famous bar in Gueux
PM visit a prominent champagne house & cellars for tour and champagne tasting
Evening gourmet dinner & dance at our hotel.

Sun 1st July "" Visit the old Reims race circuit, time to take in the atmosphere of racing as it was in the 50's and 60's - display our cars for photographs.
Possible picnic lunch.
Visit to the viilage of Hautvillers, the home of champagne and resting place of Dom Perignon.
Evening gourmet dinner at our hotel.

Mon 2nd July - leave hotel after breakfast for leisurely drive back to Calais/hypermarkets/shopping.
Depart Calais for Dover approx 1500.

Accomodation is basic but functional located in an old hotel in remote village 10 mins from Epernay...see www.auberge-champenoise.com , ferry crossing by Seafrance / possible Eurotunnel alternative.

Costs shouldn't exceed £199.00 per person, includes ferry for 1 car with 2 people, 3 nights accommodation, shared double room, continental breakfast , complimentary bottle of champagne per couple on arrival, champagne house tour & tasting.
Evening meal on Friday is not included. Gourmet meal on Sat and Sun is not included but suggested....

More details and final costings for meals etc will be available in this column next month (Feb issue).

A non returnable deposit will be required to secure your place, all reservations will need to be made by the end of January 2012.

So if you fancy a little taste of champagne, enjoy some fantastic scenery, revel in some motorsport history and some luuuvley food...then let me know!!
 
Alan, Thank you for organising a fantastic trip to Epernay last weekend for the Cayman Register. Some fantastic driving conditions, dry, warm and sunny! Not like the UK. The Porsche parade Sunday afternoon through some beautiful French Champagne villages joined together with fast twisty road was very enjoyable. Again many thanks for organising the weekend, hopefully in future you will get a few more Cayman there. Kind regards Martin & Diana
