Cayman vs Alfa 4c

I read about the Alfa in a mag recently and thought that it looked pretty good. Good stats as well.
I got the following link in an email today and thought I would share as its a good video of the Cayman...

Evo car of the year 2013 review thought the alphas steering was poor and vague and went as far as to say they "hated the engine" - a real pity as having owned two of the old GTV V6 that was one fine fine sounding engine
 
The Alfa 4C is an interesting concept with a high tech. chassis and carbon tub. It's built on the same principle as the McLaren MP4 12C. I saw it both as a bare shell and completed car at the Frankfurt Motor Show last October and was impressed. It's being assembled by Maserati. It's an attempt to regain Alfa's standing in the sports car market but early road tests have found it wanting in some areas and have assessed the Cayman as a better all round motor. It is perhaps a pity Alfa have put a lot of effort into developing the chassis and rather less on the mechanics. Having said that, the 4C will have only a small annual production run and is bound to have its fans as a small light agile, Lotus Elan type sports car. Lets hope its the start of a new direction for the marque as with its tradition, most people would like to see an Alfa revival back to being a top class sports car manufacturer. Regards, Clive
 
I think it's the safe option for journos to focus on what where they find it wanting, given that it's an Alfa. I also think that to compare a raw car like the 4C against the versatile Cayman isn't going to sway one type of buyer to the other type of car (likewise I don't expect a Lotus fan to typically be aspiring to go about the same type of concept the Italian way). The Cayman, better engineered, more versatile, easier to live with as a daily drive - the 4C ~400kg lighter and oodles of grip, must give a totally different experience as you throw it about, if not an elegant an execution as the Porsche. Me amongst them.....[:)] But since the warranty company asked the dealer whether my wife's 2 year old/18,000mile Spider is worth repairing again we've had rather a downer on them![8|]
