CD Changer Wiring

I want to add a CD multi changer (will buy the Becker unit rather than paying over the odds). Will the car have the appropriate cabling already installed (from the CDR-22) so can it just be plugged in? 2001X C4

Fortunately your car is pre-fibre optic connections.

You will need a connection for the CD unit, but fitting should be relatively straight forward.

Why not call one of the Becker specialists that advertise in the Porsche mags. Some do a special offer including Becker Hi-Speed Traffic Pro (Sat Nav).

My brother and I have earlier (99 & 98) cars, and the Becker changer cables were already in place, along with the changer mounting brackets. Unfortunately for us, Becker use a different plug on the head end, so we had to replace the cables anyway. (Both the original CDR-22's had been replaced with other units). On my brother's C4 the changer is mounted under a black plastic cover on the driver's side of the luggage compartment, which has a knock-out section in the cover to load the changer. Like I say, when he took the cover off, the cable and bracket were already in place. Hope this helps.

John -- you'll probably need a cable --and a bracket -- to run from the CDR22 to the changer unless the car had a changer fitted previously and the cable was left in. I recently removed a Panny that was in my 996 and repaced it with a CR22 and CDC3 (Becker 2680 clone) that I got off of Ebay. If you want a likely idea of costs and/or suppliers and/or how-to let me know.
