CD Multi-changer

I pick up my 2006 997S next week from the local OPC [:D](could have had it this week but being a cheap skate didn't want to pay a months tax for one week).
Having a multi-changer for the CD and were I managed to get a discount from the parts department for the unit a lead the service department wanted something near to £300 just to fit it. [:)]
As I fitted my own to the Boxster I said forget it, supply only I'll fit it. I know its a fiber optic lead and I will have to take it back to get it "coded in" (20min apparently).
Anyone know of anything else I should look out for ?.

Dont bother

The PCM in your car will play MP3 files on a CD. You can copy about 10 albums onto one CD..more than the autochanger can hold. It is upto you but I would use the case on something else

What progamme do you use to convert CD's to MP3 always found it not straightforward.

On a PC it's pretty straightforward - I use the Windows media player rip function.

Cd changer itself will not play MP3 files so you are going to end up with two types of format in your car. Personally I would suggest getting a mobridge (if you have an i pod) or a dension gateway unit fitted , instead of the CD changer. The dension will allow you to play MP3 files direct from a USB stick or an i pod and the mobridge will work with i pod and i phone hardware. As you are getting a 997 S , I beleive it comes with PCM as standard , so navigating the ipod or USB tracks is a simple task.

Please bear in mind that if you do fit a mobridge or denison unit then you would place yourself outside of the Porsche warranty program come renewal time.
I only say this as when buying from the OPC you would get the warranty.

You may feel like many do, that its not worth the concern on the warranty side, in which case the suggestions above are the best way forward

Well picked up the car today and love it, well sort of. Of course when you get any new to you car home and go over it you find marks you don't see when in the showroom, (must be the lighting). on mine its in the rear were the last owner has had something large in the back seat area which has marked the back of the seats and rear 1/4 panels. Ah well suppose its a case of buyer be wear.

Any how the box was in the front I asked if everything was in the box to fit the CD changer and was told yes.

Opened it tonight in the garage and found CD4, case, bracket and clips but no leads !!!!.

Wonderful

Anyone fitted a CD4 before ? any advice ?

mmmm, perhaps not really, it is used is it not, if you don't want that used marks look then theres only one option.
I probably have exactly the same marks in my car, part of wear and tear as far as I'm concerned..
Perhaps worth mentioning it to the OPC to see if they are prepared to do anything for you, chips away even???

But how does it drive [;)]

Oh it drives fantastic, don't get me wrong I love the car, the marks are in the interior panels and the rear of the back seats as if something big and heavy as been in the back and rubbed the panels and seats marking them . Cant really see them until you sit in the back, well the kids do !

CDC 4 anyone fit one ?

Still need to fit a cdc 4? I did mine a couple of weeks ago. Got the CDC from Ebay and the cages, screws, clips and MOST cable from OPC. The power supply is already provided under the carpet behind where the SATNAV and CDC fit.....well it was in mine ;-)
