[:)]Being a bit of a tech-no phobe and just finding out how to download music tracks I'm now starting to wonder,
Can you get a MP3 player/music track storing device thingy that goes in place of the CD multi changer under the bonnet of the Boxster?.
Was planning on get a multi changer but starting to think about an MP3 player sort of thing!.

I've just bought an ipod and a radio transmitter, giving access to all my music, a better solution I think

Isn't this illegal to use in Britains due to the age old radio broadcasting laws?

Yes the i-Trip is illegal in this country, which is why you shouldn't be able to source one from UK suppliers. It doesn't stop you orderinging from overseas though. The transmitter range on them is so short that I can't imagine anyone would be detected using one. Unless the tracer was within about 10 feet of you.So if your using it in the car then at least you know it's your passenger.

I'll be aquiring one in the next month or so while away. I't gives me an excuse to go shopping and buy new toys.[:D]

1000's of music tracks all recorded at CD quality

MP3's are not really even close to CD quality. I can't stand listening to MP3's unless they're on headphones, even at the highest bitrate.[8|]

That surely depends on what format they're copied...doesn't it?

I'm not that well clued up on the various formats, but listening to "ordinary" mp3 recorded at 180bps (I think that's about the right tech term) is not a good listening experience.
However, using Apples ACC3 or MP4 format is completely different, and IMO is better than the sound quality from the Porsche CD changer.

Of course, I stand to be corrected on my terminology; but my ears are telling me the truth!

Although I mentioned MP3 specifically as being bad, all the other formats are still definately worse than CD. It's not possible to cram full CD files into a smaller file size without some loss in sound quality. Some formats claim to be lossless, but that's also bunkum. Maybe the Porsche CD changer sucks, as to be sure, not all CD players are the same, and some are downright awful [:-]
