cd player/head unit for s2

Any single-DIN unit will fit (as in, anything of 'normal' size.)
You may need to do something with the wiring to make it hook up to the electrics, as I don't think that 944's had ISO connectors fitted as standard. However, it is quite possible that whoever fitted the last radio put some in, in which case it's plug-and-play.
Personal request - please make sure the job is done properly - I hate badly-fitted car radios. (Actually I hate bad workmanship of any form, but it seems that the usual radio-fitting type are more prone to it than most!) Do the wiring properly, with a soldering iron and some heat-shrink, and ensure that the radio cage (bit that fits in the dash that the radio slides into) is properly attached. Thanks!
Oli.

As for the unit itself, take a look at the Alpine 103BT and 104BT. Great sound, built in interface for I-Pod and best of all automatic bluetooth link to mobile phones. Get in the car, leave phone in pocket and it comes through the car's speakers. How very modern!

I quite like the look of the new gen of head units that don't have CD transport mechanisms. No point in CD's when you can have full iPod integration, USB and flash card interfaces. And think of the weight you're saving.
