CD Player - loading fault

Has any one had any experience of intermitent fault on CD loading.

My other half has a 2003 boxster with Porsche 6 cd player system.

The system seems to have a mind of its own, somedays its fine others it doesn't recognise any CDs are in the cartridge or it will just show that any number between 1 and 6 have been loaded - Any thoughts at all?

Also the standard set up with front only speakers gives one of the worst sound quality wise I have heard for quite a while, any one fitted an upgrade?

Thanks in advance

If you haven't already, try a Cd lens cleaner, it may be dirty and the error correction system might be going into meltdown trying to work out what's going on.

Hi Gary,

i have replied to a similar post before..... it does appear to be a common problem & experienced it myself...

car is garaged but cd changer has played up, generally when damp, then works fine.... try cleaning cd's & as others have suggested give a blast of air to clear lenses within unit.

hth
