CD stuck in CDR24

Ejected a CD from the CDR24 on my 987 and put a different one in but it's telling me 'no CD' when I press the CD button. Can't play it and can't eject it. There's definitely one in there!

Have tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to reset the CD player but no joy. Has anyone had this problem and if so, how did you resolve it?

p.s. It was the wife that did the CD swapping and got it stuck if that's of any significance!

Found this reported on Rennteam forum:

I don't have PCM but had a cd that wouldn't eject from my Bose CDR24 and this reboot spit the disc right out,

Press TP + 1st dot button (left to right) + 3rd dot button simultaneously

You might try a few similar combinations, I would bet there has to be an equivalent reboot on a car with PCM.

Good luck

Thanks Geoff. I've tried that and it sounds like it's trying to spit it out but not succeeding. I'll have a go again with an extra pair of hands to try some persuasion. I'll report back.

Steve, if that doesn't work it might be a good idea to call your local PC service department - I'm sure that it's a regular question for them.

Is it a home made CD with a stuck on lable? They tend to stick.

If all else fails open the flap, press eject, and while you can hear it trying to spit the CD out, pull the CD out with tweezers.

You're probably right Jeff but I fear it could become the most expensive £9.99 CD ever!

It was a real one Rodney...if you could call it that (see cryptic comment above).

There isn't even a murmur when I press the eject button. However it does sound like it's trying to eject when I do the trick Geoff suggested. So I'll be having a go with the tweezers when I've got help to do the three button trick....which unfortunately means involving the culprit (wife) again! [:D]

Unfortunately, the slot on the CDR24 is a lot more difficult to get into than the flap that I used have with the CDR22 on the previous 986.

Yes, I too find the current slot a lot more difficult to get into than the one that I used to have on the previous...

No, best not go there [;)]

There's not a slot you can say about such rude inuendo--just don't overturn your car ,otherwise you'd have a crack up.[:)]

CD is now out! A combination of Geoff's three button trick and some very fine tweezers helped persuade it out. The offending CD (Journey's greatest hits [8|]) is now scratched to death but at least it's free. The CDR24 unit decided that it had been tampered with too much, wouldn't then respond to any controls and threw the anti theft LED. It looked like I was going to be stuck with Radio 2 at volume 12 for ever more! However, locking the car, leaving it for a while and then unlocking saw everything return to normal. [:)] Although, I've yet to try putting in another CD.
