CDR 23 Radio too clever.

I live in an area where I can receive 3 BBC radio stations, Radio Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Notts. These Stations all operate on their own discrete frequencies and have different programmes during the day. However early in the morning and evenings they syndicate the same programmes.

The problem is that my CDR 23 radio seems to have learned from my early morning journeys through these counties that these 3 frequencies are the same station. It therefore swaps between frequencies as soon as it finds a stronger one. This can occur 3 or 4 times in a mile.
It also overrides the presets. So I select button 1 for BBC Lincs, FM 94.9 but the radio seems to think, "You can get Notts better so I'll give you that instead" and immediately retunes to the BBC Notts frequency.

I can override this automatic selection by using the Man button but this depends upon A, remembering and B, having the required station at the time. Every time the car is started the Man function reverts back to automatic.

I have read the manual and tried the obvious to me solutions. Please can anyone suggest anything further I can do?

I've noticed something similar.. I wonder is it retuning based on the RDS name ?

Turn off RDS on the radio and see it that helps perhaps.

Thanks.

It is a feature of the RDS system that enables "useful" data to be transmitted to the radio including the ability for a RDS radio to learn different frequencies and associate them to the same station.

My problem is that the CDR 23 seems too keen to associate wrong frequencies.

If I turn off RDS completely then I will also use useful things like the station name and Traffic Programmes. (Having said that I know how to turn off RDS on my wife's car but not sure if it is possible on the CDR 23.)
RDS has been around for 20 years and I have never had any problems before. It just seems to me that the CDR 23 is too clever or too sensitive. Perhaps if I could erase / reset this part of its memory.
