CDR 24 Radio - Station Jumping

Having collected my new Boxster a few weeks ago I was informed by my OPC that there are no manuals available as yet to go with the CDR-24 that is fitted, and one will be sent to me when they arrive.
I have a very small yet highly annoying problem in that whilst driving listening to my local radio station the radio jumps between my local one, TFM and Metro Radio further up the coast. I presume it's searching for the optimum signal strength but having no manual I don't know?? The strangest thing is it always does this when I drive past TFM's building where the programs broadcast!

having read cFirth's earlier post of 'CRD23 - Radio to clever' it seems the CDR23 acts in a similar way, but having no manual I'm stuck - can anyone help

I've noticed the poor reception on the 987 stereo, try switching to a national station and not commercial :D

TFM you must be a local.

I'd agree with local radio, but have had no problems listening to national i.e. radio 2

Looks like for the time being i'll just have to stick with Alan Brazil and the TalkSport boys on the way to work. [:)]

This link courtesy of the BBC explains the facilities of RDS system.

It would seem the RDS feature causing the problem is "Regional Link." Know I know what it is called I will have a look in my CDR 23 book to find out if we can switch it off. I'll post any findings tomorrow unless anyone can do it quicker. I assume the feature is operated the same in both CDR 23 / 24 radios

Having read the manual for the CDR 23 a couple of times it gets no marks from me for clarity. It would seem that you have to switch Regional Programming ON to stop the problem.

To do this on a CDR 23 (Hopefully a CDR 24 will have similar buttons)

Press "Menue"

Pre set button 7 now has RP in the display above it. Press button 7 to toggle Regional Programming on or off.

My car is presently in North Scotland and I am lucky to receive any radio stations, let alone a choice. Please could someone post a reply if this has worked.

Chris it looks like you've solved the problem!

I sat and fiddled around with the CDR-24 last night and would agree with you that activating RP seems to solve the problem.
To activate RP on the CDR-24 it's the same as 23 ie 'Menue' button then option 7.
It was fine driving to work this morning and didn't jump around searching for the strongest signal.

Thanks for your help. I can stop shouting at the dashboard now.
