cdr22

the complete fascia is availiable from becker with nice shiny new knobs(about £20). But you lose the Porsche logo. Early cdr 22's had flaky buttons. As i found out when I came to sell mine.Porsche "might" sell new fascia's too but you'd need a knowledgable opc.

Yes you will: I've just spent fifteen minutes trailing about the PET and it sends you off to the bowels of the Tequipment section where the original CDR22 isn't even listed but the CDR32 is.
PS The pic posted is of a CR22 not a CDR22...

Thanks for the feedback - perhaps I need a little advice also...

I have just bought 97 993 S (2S?) and it has vdo shiny flashy thing and cd player. I really like my cars to be as original as possible and thought fitting becker CD of the era was right thing to do.However I have read some of the other posts re becker hifi etc and it looks like a modern becker will do the job just as much as the old CDR22.

OPC (edinburgh) advised me that if I canb get old CDR 22 in any condition they can provide factory replenished unit for £200 but the mexico and Monza retail at this price new. There was aslio a nakamichi head unit on Ebay last week - I really just want something that is in-keeping with the car... primarily listen to the radio but occasional CD but I hear IPOD / MP3 is the new modern way ...

CDR22 / Monza/ Mexico .. which one is best ???

Cheers
Kevin

I got mine from Caraudiodiscout and was very plased with the unit and the price[;)]. With regards the fascias from Porsche. The original flaky button cdr's were replaced under warrenty with complete new units (so i am told) later ones were returned to the opc and had new fascias fitted again under warrenty(again from what I have read and found out). Any that are left are now well out of warrenty. It is opc's that have done this work that may have a part number (a pet part number may well not exsist).

If you are not changing it could you please advise which cd changer you have working with cr22... will a becker silverstone cd changer work with Cr22???

Regards,
Kevin
