CDR23 removal

My CDR23 head unit has stopped working after I re-fitted the main car battery. Main fuses are OK but I suspect that the in-line fuse in the unit has gone. Camtune say this is easy to check, but I don't have the keys to unlock the head unit and remove it. Are they keys easily available or do I need to hold on for 3 weeks until she's at Camtune for the service?

If I do get the unit out, is there anything I need to take care over to make sure the unit and car handshake properly when the power is reconnected?

They are Becker keys. You find them on eBay occasionally, but they only a few quid from a Becker dealer (so I'm told). Photo courtesy of Renntech:

Edit: Just found these on eBay (£3.50 inc postage): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CT22BE01-Becker-Car-Stereo-Radio-Release-Removal-Keys_W0QQitemZ330199460549

The CDR23 is coded to your DME, so there are no radio codes to worry about. It should connect without a problem when you reconnect the power supply.

the keys are also available from Halfords about £2.00 and they worked fine on mine - again select the ones for Becker
when you are re-fitting take care with the plastic sticker which is in the depression on the left hand side of the unit as you look at it, since if this isnt present the alarm will think the radio has been stolen and bleep at you every time you set it!

pm me if you have any problems

Thanks everyone. I'll check fuse E6, just in case, before I start taking the head unit out. Cheers, John
