Celebration model

I rang a guy who had a Celebration model Boxster for sale and asked him to look in the Service booklet to read out the VIN and option codes etc. The book was a duplicate so did no have this in. I then asked him to look on the underside of the bonnet and he said no label was present.
Where else would the option codes appear?

By "Celebration Model", do you mean the 550 Spyder Anniversary, sold in 2004 and the last of the 986 Boxsters?

If its any help, this is the content of the bonnet sticker in mine:

C16 - UK LUX spec: tinted windows, metallic paint, and a few other goodies.
X99 - unknown
192 - unknown
424 - Automatic heating control (climate control a/c, also coded as 573) or possibly CD storage compartment
440 - Manual antenna, 4 speakers
502 - Produced in Valmet Finland
581 - Front section of centre console
665 - PCM2 Basic Module Including Radio
666 "" Telephone module for PCM
670 - PCM2 Navigation
692 - CDC-4 Remote CD changer (6-disc)

Once you have the VIN, I believe Porsche UK can furnish you with the original spec sheet. Personally, I would be very wary of a car without bonnet sticker and original owners' manual.

Richard PM on its way - thanks for help.

Spyderman - thanks for your help
Code Option Description X99-964 3.6 Turbo S flatnose rear fender vents optionCopied and pasted from Option Decoder site (does not look correct to me)[8|]

That strange code for X99 was what I originally found - and dismissed! Thanks Richard for its true meaning in this context! One other option I know my car has is "plain" wheels rather than Seal Grey.

All of the "X" option codes relate to the "Porsche Exclusiv" department and are likely to be re-used across different models, so what it means for a 964 3.6 Turbo has no relation to what it means for a 986 Boxster.

FWIW, I'd also be very suspicious of a car with no build label OR original service book.

Dave

John - Not sure if you got my PM reply, but the car IS a 50 yr Anniversary Edition, and it IS UK spec.

Chris - If you email me your VIN, I'll look up all the build and option codes for you.

Thanks to all those who have been responding to my original post.

Just a word of warning (all though I'm sure that most would not be tempted)

The car I rang about was advertised as a 2006 Boxster 3.2 (but looked like Anniversary model. Advertised by trader in Burnley area Lancs - just 12K miles with no supporting documents. Story was he purchased from Jag dealer who took in as Trade. Said it was not a UK car so was not registered until 2006. No under bonnet ID sticker and no history with the Service book being a blank duplicate! [X(] Whilst he was walking me round car (me on other end of phone) The following were either missing or wrong, Boxster script missing, wrong exhaust, No anniversary badge with. No surpise the car has been withdrawn from Autotrader![:-]
I have confirmation from Richard H the car is a UK Celebration model - so BEWARE this could and no doubt will surface again perhaps after the missing wrong bits have been replaced!

as my ex senior partner once told me-if something seems too good to be true ,then it probably is[:D]

To be fair, the bootlid badge is
a) a no-cost option to remove - OR - b) as with myself, some owners prefer it without and remove it (a 2 min job).

The 550 came with a different exhaust tip to the standard "S" - do you mean it had the wrong one for a 550?

The lim edition badge should be there on the interior though.

Having said all that - no history - no service book. Walk away very quick.[]

Thanks for your comments. If your read my other post above even the trader did not know what the car was.
He said not a UK car when through my investigation with RH it was! It is an Anniversary model. However, I had already made my mind up I would not touch it when the guy rang back and with a walk around over the phone I discovered lots of bits missing or wrong.
My guess, and it is only that, is the trader said he thought it may have had paint on the rear wing - boot script badge missing and wrong exhaust tip and paint point to rear end shunt! No Anniversary interior badge, no books, VIN labels missing all points to a nightmare[&o]
You say walk away quickly[] A long time ago I was in the Army and I sure still know how to march in double quick time both forward and backwards![;)]
