Central door locking

I can no longer get the central locking to unlock from the drivers door with the key. It will lock quite happily. Doors also lock and unlock from the switch on the centre console. I had the microswitch in the door replaced and it worked once. Now packed up again.
Any advice / recommendations?

Assuming you didn't get a bad microswitch I'd be looking at wiring and connectors starting with the microswitch. You may have an iffy ground or the wires in the connectors or the pins may be loose. You may find the switch works when jiggling the wires in the microswitch connector into making contact. Given that one side works (locking), I'll bet you have a bad connection on the unlock side at the switch.

While repairing my window regulator I had the window switch wiring virtually fall out of the connector (cold solders I'm guessing). I re-soldered the leads using the existing solder and just a wee dab of electronics solder - your problem may be similar.

i have a similar problem my passenger side door will unlock from the drivers door but when i lock it again it pops back open it will lock from the passenger door key but you have to hold it in the lock position any advice would be welcome

It gets stranger. I know i locked the car last night but I come down this morning and it has unlocked itself. I'll take everything apart today if its dry, clean all the connections, check earths and try again. I might try another microswitch just in case the new one is faulty.

Took the whole lot to pieces. Cleaned all electrical connections with brake cleaner and cleaned pins where i could with emery paper. Reassembled and door lock now works fine. Also took the opportunity to replace the horrid Halfords insulated connectors someone had grafted on to the mirror wires with proper weather proof electrical connectors.
Rain then scuppered plans to put the door cards back on.
