tonight the central locking doesnt work and the horn beeps twice when locking and unlocking. nothings open, glove box etc. are all shut. any ideas, could it just be a flat battery?

A double-beep means there is a fault in the alarm/central locking system. Does the door lock, and then immediately unlock? In other words, can you hear a noise from the door lock when you attempt to lock it?

The most likely culprit is one of the micro switches in the door lock assembly. Usually it is the one which senses whether the door is open or closed. When they fail, they effectively tell the alarm system that the door is open, when in fact it is closed. The system then unlocks the door when you try to lock it.

As a temporary measure you can use the emergency locking procedure. Either press the lock button on the remote 3 times in succession, or turn the key in the Door to the lock position and back 3 times quickly.

hi, thanks for the response. yes I did hear the above. could it be the battery needs replacing?

I had the same fault and it was one of the micro switches. If I remember correctly, I had to strip out the door lock and it was the micro switch on the outside of the lock body. I managed to separate the switch moulding and clean and lube it. I can't remember how I found which door it was but I have eventually had to do both doors.

thanks for your posts, yes the lock on the passenger side has been replaced and now all working okay. The horn needed replacing too!
