central locking button

Hi all,

I've got an odd fault with the central locking. The button by the gearstick is permanantly "on"?

The driver's door unlocks on the plipper, but not the passenger. If I push the locking button it locks the two doors. Pushing it again unlocks them both, but they then immediately lock again and the button is lit up red the whole time the ignition is on.

Any ideas? I could disable the switch if there's a way to do so, as I never use it.

Looking at the manual (Vol 3 - section 57) under Doors (I thought it would be its own section). Unfortunately it could be your console switch is duff (you can just unplug it but you have to remove the console switch plate to access it), your control module (mounted on the bottom of the steering column) has a fault or the micro switch/actuator in the passenger door has a fault. There is a test plan in the manual for the control module so you can verify correct function there off the wiring connectors.

I found an old post on Rennlist where a guy found a fault in the control module circuit board which he repaired by soldering on a jumper wire so there is some hope for repairing these things.

I'd start with unplugging the console switch and see what happens...

Thanks, Bruce.

I played around with it tonight, and solved the problem.

I've got two sticking handles: the cooler weather means both sides open, but the handles don't return properly.

If I'd have thought about it, the passenger side was used for the first time in ages yesterday, and the handle was stuck half-way. Enough to close the door properly, but not enough to tell the central switch that the door was closed. [8|]

The poor central locking button was going mad because the car did 200 miles with, in it's little brain, the passenger door open. [&:]
