Central locking problem.

Can anyone offer any advice please,the central locking is playing up.If I lock the car with the remote,the locks engage and then disengage,if the car does lock, when I unlock it the passenger door remains locked so I'm assuming it's that door at fault.I can hear the locks working and opening but if I sit in the car and lock it using the dash button I can't hear the passenger door locks moving although the drivers door is operating,to make it more frustrating the fault is intermittent.I've had the door card off but there doesn't seem to be anything obvious.Any help gratefully received.
 
Does it double-beep when this happens when you are locking with the remote? That would indicate a fault on the alarm system.

The most common cause of this is a broken microswitch in the door lock assembly. The door locks, and then immediately unlocks, usually accompanied by a double-beep from the alarm horn. This is the "˜door locked' microswitch (there are 5 switches in each lock). The locking motor physically operates the door lock, but the microswitch to sense this has failed/stuck. The alarm module promptly unlocks the car. In this case, the only way to lock the door is to use the emergency locking procedure. Turn the key in the door to the lock position and back three times in quick succession.

Yeah,it double beeps Richard so I think you've hit the nail on the head.How do I get to that switch? Do I need to be double jointed?
 
It is inside the door lock assembly, so you have to take off the door card, remove the lock, and take it to pieces. However, the switches aren't available from Porsche (they only sell the complete lock at c£100) so you will have to improvise. The switches are made by Burgess, but I can't for the life of me find a part number for them. People have said that Maplins do one which is similar.

The snag is that you don't know which door lock is causing the problem - it could be either one. A diagnostic check with a Porsche tester should show which one.
 
I suspect it's the passenger door as sometimes when I unlock the car the passenger door remains locked,no doubt I'll find out the hard way as usual.Thanks for the help anyway Richard,I'll let you know what I find.
 
Maybe it is the actual locking mechanism that is sticking, but I agree that it is most likely to be the passenger side. If you don't want to blitz it with a new lock, then a strip, clean, and lubricate will help, and you can check the microswitches while it is apart.
 
CPC have the Microswitches for future reference, I think I paid about £6 quid opposed to a zillion quid quoted elsewhere.

They sell the ones which go on the inside and outside door handles, but if you know the part number of the ones inside the door lock you would make a lot of people happy. [:)]
 
I may be a multi billionaire but I refuse to pay VAT on top,so,instead I stripped the lock out and found the microswitch sticking.I managed to prise the casing apart,spray it inside and reassemble it.All back together and ok,my kind of repair,cost me nothing,result in my tight northern git mind.Thanks for the advice gentlemen,I'd be lost without you.
 
I looked and looked and cannot find the part number I bought, I even thought I bought spares to go along with the other spares that I cant find in the garage either. ARRRRRGGGGGHH.

If its any help all I did was get the number off the side of the switch and cross referenced it in Google as I doubt Porsche make the own Microswitches?.

Then looked on Farnell for the cross referenced number.
