Central locking stopped working

Hi all

My central locking has suddenly stopped working. It doesn't work either with the alarm or the key so I assume that it's actually the locking system itself. I've checked the fuses - does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Iain,
I had problems with mine earlier in the year, fortunately for me it was only a bad joint where the alarm was spliced into the harness. Sounds like your problem might be something to do with the brain of the system, this is mounted behind the clock (on RHD cars) near the aerial booster. Its actually mounted on the inner wing panel and its a bugger to get to!!

Check that the power is getting to the module, failing that see if you can borrow a unit to try and determine if yours has gone caput. Does the central locking light still light up in the centre console? Not sure how its powered, will the locking work manually from the switch?
I've got a copy of the wiring diagram on CD, e-mail me off line if its any use to you. Its in PDF format so I asume I can send the appropriate sheet.

Cheers,

Unfortunately the centre switch has never worked since I've had the car.

I do wonder if it's the motor - not sure where it is though?

There must be a solenoid in each door, which toggle to an open/closed state. There is a microswitch in each lock, to operate the solenoids, and the central locking switch obviously does the same. As I can't find my Bentley manual, I wonder if the connection is through the central locking switch; this is easy to remove, and I would check it first.
