Central Locking Switch in the Centre Console Fails to Operate.

When the switch is operated the locking mechanism activates once and tries to open /close but fails. It returns to the unlocked position.
The indicator light in the switch is on all the time the electrics are on.
The Key and door buttons both operate correctly.

Any help in solving this would be much appreciated. Thanks

Thanks, but its not the bars!
Checked the operating bars and their ok. When the switch is activated you can see the locks bounce as they attempt to lock, but they return back to open, however the switch light is on, indicating that the switch is in the locked position.?

Tricky one hey!

It's supposed to unlock again if the door is open, which I guess it is if you can see the blocks move.

I wonder if its something simple like the switch? Its one of those ones where you press it the same way to either lock or unlock. Very simple to try out with a known working one. Whereabouts in the country are you?

Hi Guys
Yes thats right Its one of those ones where you press it the same way to either lock or unlock.
Fen I have the door cards off so I can see the mech working with both doors closed.
The red light on the switch indicates that the locks are closed but their not. The key operates the locks perfectly. its just the central locking switch in the centre console that doesnt operate. It goes through the cycle but returns to open with the indicator light showing red (locked)
I'm located in Loughborough Leicestershire

Any more help appreciated
thanks

Sounds like the same as mine. My central locking works perfectly when operated by the key in both doors but the center console switch causes all sorts of havoc. I even had it once when one door was unlocked and the other locked and when you pressed the switch it toggled them! I never use it so i've never investigated any further and just put it down to some quirky electrical fault. It'll be interesting to see how you get on.

This link may or may not be of some use.

If you go down to G below the pic of barrel removal it talks about the valley of the central locking micro switch. Yours could be worn perhaps, but yours only does one cycle as oppose to continual as in the info page?
If your keys work then obviously it is down to either your operating switch, the micro swtich in the door or maybe some strange short.
I know that when I replaced my handles they were full of crap (see pic) might be worth cleaning them out in case of crud fouling something.
Also, as a side note. My alarm would go off all the time. After removing handles and finding a stripped wire it has been fine since.
