Central Locking

The Central Locking was working ok then one day stopped. It's not the fuse either. It is the Factory fitted Central Locking System. You can hear a faint clicking coming from the Control unit behind the clock, the indicators flash to. If you use the key in the lock you can hear the switches on both doors make a faint click from the contol unit too when you turn the Key, so it's not that! Both Door switches work and the lights come on and you can hear a different relay click much louder. It has a Scorpion Alarm fitted which is how the Central Lock functions. You Press the fob and it the lights flash and you hear the faint clicking from the Central Locking module as before. If you press the Lock button in the Centre Console it lights up Red as Locked then goes off again as it hasn't locked.

Any Ideas? Central Locking Unit? Can't Lock Car as you can't using the Key so has to stay in the Garage

Thanks

Graham

Bit late in the day b ut I've just had the same problem with my 84 Targa. Tracked it down to loose connectioin in the relay box situated under the dash in the bonnet compartment. I solved the problem by disconnecting the connectors on top of the box and reinserting - keep a track on which goes where. There are also connectors from this box to the door loom and also inside the door which could be weak points. Disconnecting and reconnecting together with a squirt of WD40 should solve most problems. Also make sure all connectors are pushed well home.

Wasn't there an article on this PP recently or may have been 911 & PWord. I understood it was one of those things that is likely to go after 20/30 years and is massive wonga to fix or the parts are no long obtainable. Sorry I can't remember the detail.
