Another fine job done by Chris. Having given up my 2006 997GT3 Mk1 for a 2009 997Turbo MK1 I thought I had gone too far the other way, despite my 3 weekly 206 mile commute. Half a day with Chris and the Turbo is exactly how I want it. If you have not been - Get booked in

From all the compliments showered on CG they have to be good. However if you are not local to them why not try your local Porsche main dealer? Mine is Hatfield and with their alignment tweeks the other day they transformed my RS. Ask for Dean.

However the OPC will only set the car to factory standard- which many of us had prior..
Chris uses those tolerences of the factory standard to tweek the car to handle the way that owner would prefer.. ie fast road - motorway, something the OPC will not.

garyw

opc exeter can over ride standard settings now with there new system
Which is good news if you have your own geo set up

It has been proven many times that OPCs can't get standard alignment correct - either they don't have good enough equipment or the technicans aren't up to the job... or both

If you want it done right there are a few good places to go like CG, Parr, JZM. I wouldn't go near an OPC for such things myself. Nobody in the country that I know of has the accuracy of equipment or a technician that works to such high OCD levels of getting the alignment dead on, that CG has.

To support Alex's comments, first time I went to CG my new boots were 400 miles old and had been set up by an OPC - they were miles off the tolerances for factory issue.

Having said that car set up is a bit of an art and Alex has identified the Best of them above - these guys are chassis and set up guru's so they are all very good.

Chris at Cg USP is that he customizes the set up to suit you as opposed to most of the others that have defined 4 or 5 set up types and you get the nearest one to your requirement. Chris goes the whole hog and sets it up as best it can be for your driving style.

Having been there, I can confidently say its the best value upgrade you can buy your car, 911's are really sensitive to set up and CG work wonders - it'll feel like a whole new car.

Having mentioned that I am about due to book the beast in for a fettle by CG.

When watching Chris set up the GT3 I seem to recall part of the measuring equipment was fitted directly on to the hub. Does anyone know how or if this works for cars blighted with the wretched centre locks?

He's got two different sets of attachments. The original set uses spider arms to latch onto the tyres, the new (more accurate) set uses the center hub mounting.

I would have thought if you remote the center locks then the latter could be used, if not then the old tried and trusted arms can be used.

If you have a concern then drop Chris an email or give him a call.

Won't the wheels fall off................?

I dont know much about the new locking centers - is there not something underneath stopping that from happening? If not then yes, Chris would have to use the spider arm solution - which served him very well for many years before the hub connectors:
