Centre oddments tray problem.

I usually keep my centre console compartment closed and locked but I opened it and now I can't get the blessed thing to stay shut. I've ended up leaving it open and locked the car. The horn blipped to let me know that something was open but then the interior lights went out and all seems well. I just can't close the bloody centre compartment! Can anyone tell me how to adjust it so that I can close it?
I'm also concerned that it might open itself and set the alarm off - so I'm leaving it open! (This happened to me before and the alarm went off! )
Is my alarm activated now that I've left the centre compartment open...?

Any help would be appreciated.

Adrian.

Yes, your alarm will still be activated.

I don't think there is any adjustment on the catch. Is the hinge still intact? They have a nasty habit of breaking on one side, which puts the lid out of alignment.

It all seems absolutely fine, Richard. I can't see anything that would stop it locking down. This problem was there when I first got the car (2005) but the OPC "fixed" it.

Do you think that the black 'receiver' part that pushes downwards when you close the lid onto it should click and lock down when you push it by hand....'cause mine doesn't(?) I seem to remember that the lock is locked when the slot for the key is facing front to back (as opposed to left to right). Am I right here..?

On mine it's UNLOCKED with the key slot pointing front to back.

Perhaps the locking mechanism has come loose. It's held on with screws from underneath. If it would help I coould send you the assembly instructions. Drop me an email if you would like them.
