I should like to recognise the excellent response from Porsche Reading in providing me with a Certificate of Authenticity for my newly acquired 997 Turbo. My application with photos of V5c and PCGB membership card was emailed to them last Friday, and I have received the certificate within a week. Great service!

Its always good to read of great service and to share our positive experiences of Porsche ownership.
Hope you enjoy the Turbo!

Mmmmm, I'm still waiting for my COA nearly 4 weeks after sending all the necessary to Reading, great service appears to be lacking in my case ??

I have a very similar positive experience, mine came to me within days of sending scans of documents via email. I am wondering if they perhaps respond quicker to soft-copies of things being sent.... I hope you get yours soon Booman!

I mailed Reading today & got an immediate response. i was told the certificate was sent out early last month and for what ever reason I haven't received it. A new one is on its way, so great service, eventually ??

Same positive experience for me. Very impressive turnaround inside a week, despite being quoted 28 days.

whats the process to get a certificate ??
previously I had a sheet to fill in, but guessing that the electronic age
must have kicked in now. :)

As a PCGB member you have access to the Members Only section of the Register forum and if you click on the Index in the Technical Section, you can find the link to the instructions on how to get yours.

Clive.

Hi Clive

" invalid licence key ".

What at am I doing wrong ??

cheers Al

I have just received my Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche, sent my stuff by post on a Monday and received the COA back on Saturday - great service
Well worth doing
Regards
Jonathan

I'm struggling to understand the merit of these certificates. If a company in the Far East was making knock off Porsche 997 GT3s then okay, but really, what virtue does it have?

For modern cars, you're right, it's really just a nice thing to have, it adds to the provenance of the car, and confirms the build spec. For older cars it can be very useful indeed when it can be much harder to work out what a car might originally have been and what colour it started off as.

I found it a useful aid, as I was told a slightly different spec by the OPC and this clarified in writing how the car left the factory. Also a copy for a future buyer I'm sure will be appreciated.

FYI The build spec will be detailed in the VIL sticker in the maintenance handbook in case you're not sure. The sticker will have codes such as C16, 018 etc which can be decoded by online decoders.

Any idea what "Introduction Car" means? It's listed as the first option in the Options section of my certificate? Thanks.
