Sent my details off for my certificate of authenticity when it came back the paint code is different to the one on the car my paint code is LM5M still on the back panel of the boot also in the original guarantee and maintenance book which is original the colour of my car is turkish blue metallic which Porsche say is paint code E6E6 which they argue is the correct paint code and LM5M is the sales code now i,m totally confused by all this because google LM5M and turkish blue comes up all over the place but they refuse to budge and will not issue a certificate with paint code LM5M because the factory says its E6E6 which to me is b------s they will issue a letter explaining how it works.Does anyone out there with the same paint code LM5M had the same trouble
Bob

Hi Bob, got your message. If you can wait a few weeks I'll do a letter for you from me as the RS, on Club-headed paper, to confirm the car is that paint code. I'm in the middle of moving home and work and to be honest I haven't got a clue if the letterheaded paper is packed or not. Circumstances are tough, but from mid-Feb I'll have everything unpacked and the printer set up again. Sorry not to be able to help sooner. If it's urgent I could probably email a letter to the office and they could print it off?

Thanks Paul really appreciate that i cannot understand where Reading are coming from but i wonder if they know 944s2 in 1990 were made at Neckarsulm which at the time was a vw/audi factory and i think it may have been given that code because of where it was produced Bob

Best of luck with the move hope you are not moving to far away from leafy Bucks

Really great place to live spent many happy holidays there with the kids and dogs always tried to visit Rock for the Doom Bar brewery then get the ferry to padstow for fish&chips at Ricks place

Best wishes Bob

Certificates of Authenticity seem to be frequently peppered with mistakes. Teurkis Blau is indeed LM5M, but it wasn't a series production colour or an official UK colour (youll notice that it does not have an anglicised name either) and this may be the reason behind their lack of familiarity.

Remember too that youre dealing with the clowns who referred to the 1989> 944 Turbo as the 'Turbo SE'* in a relatively recent classic model overview, despite the fact that a brief glance at their own brochures whouldve shown that this was not correct...

*the Turbo SE, actually Turbo with Special Equipment, was Porsche Cars GBs name for the M758 Turbo S. The '89 car was simply called Turbo and people incorrectly called it SE due to confusion caused by the '88 Turbo S's UK rename.

Yes agree clowns is good description they will not listen to anything you tell them its almost as though you are a nuisance to more important things like counting paper clips

Does anyone know the paint code of the very similar Tahoe Blue out of interest? A brief search didn't reveal anything.

Interesting chart here

[link=http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/colour_codes_porsche.php]http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/colour_codes_porsche.php[/link]

Shows Tahoe Blue from 1988-9 as 37C/LM5L, Tuerkis Blue from 1990-7 as M5M. Another Tuerkisblau from 1990-3 as 38I/E6/59 and just Tuerkis in 1995 as 25C (which is the colour of our 993!) I presume the different "tuerkis'" went on different models?

I also found that website and asked porsche reading to look at it which they point blank refused saying they only take there info from the factory they sent me aletter and I quote from there letter lm5m is a pre sales code and described the colour turquoise blue or turkis blau in german. E6e6 is a after sales code for exactly the same colour and is what we have on our systems .That they say is what the factory records show .Where I think they have got confused is production of the 944s2 was at Neckarsulm plant leased from Audi and only went to Zuffenhausen in 1991 and I think they haven't taken that into consideration I believe its an Audi colour .

Curious. This page

[link=http://www.paintcode.co.uk/audi-paint-codes-795-0.html]http://www.paintcode.co.uk/audi-paint-codes-795-0.html[/link]

shows Volkswagen/Audi Tuerkis Blue, 1990-1992 as LM5M!

Yes very curious i was hoping someone on here had the same colour so i could compare certificates glad i didn't have to pay for it i would really be pd off

Hi Bob,

Had my Certificate of authenticity which states that the colour is Turquoise blue metallic paint code E6E6, but as you say the sticker in the boot says LM5M .

Hi mark thanks for that info perhaps we could start a pressure group and try and get them to change there mind .I have now mailed them and said I will forward all the info I have to the factory and see what happens yes before anyone says it I know I'm pissing in the wind

What's the point?

It doesn't change anything and it sounds like there is some crossover in the codes so it could well be a genuine error - an error from 20-odd years ago!

The point is they are wrong but just wont do anything about it because they are to busy doing far more important things .
