Hi everyone,

I have just been looking into an event that is fairly new on the scene and is similar to the Goodwood Festival of Speed but not as far for us to travel. Just looked on route planner and it is a 11/2 hr 82 mile run.

It takes place on 17-18th of July which is a Saturday and Sunday. Camping is available if anbody wants to rough it or we could organise a hotel for Fri, Sat or both nights!!!

I have contacted the organisers and they can offer us free unlimited display area at the show with ten free tickets thrown in. Depending on numbers attending we could buy any extra tickets we need and split the cost between us all. Extra members would be charged for entry and other activities at a discounted rate.

If anybody is interested have a look on the web under the title above- it tells you all about it on there.

We can discuss this at the next meeting and if there is enough interest then we can get things organised for what could be a great weekend or day away.

All the best,

Chris Chappell

THis looked like a really good event last year although we didn't end up going. It seemed to have something for just about everyone.

Not sure that we can make as we are booked for Silverstone Classic the following weekend, but we will see.

Yes I took a look at this last year and mentioned it at a club night. I also got in touch with NW region to see if they were going., In the event they hadn't any link so I didn't go any further. Sounds like we may be more lucky this year - could see it being a really good day out.

It's the weekend after the British Grand Prix.....at which we're camping for four or five nights.

Marlies will only stand so much roughing-it so it would be a day visit for us if we go [:D]

Looks like a good do though!

I went last year to the CPoP. I don't want to knock the event, as it would be great to have a Goodwood Festival in the North, but they really need to step up their organisational skills.
Queing at 8.15am to get in as the ATC volunteers controlling the main gate, didn't know their AC from Zavasta etc was pathetic! And if you needed the loo, best not hang on too long as again, queues were the theme for the day!
I went with the AMOC and we were allocated a 'premium' spot for our display! This turned out to be in a less boggy part of the outfield where all the car clubs were put - still along way away from the action and main paddock area (where the RR & Bentley Club managed to secure.) I think TIPEC attended as a club, but couldn't find their display.
There were some lovely old racers and sports cars - plus some new ones as well, as for the promised helicopter display and power boat racing - ummm
I hope they get their act together this year - 3rd time lucky! And that we do have a 'B-B-Q' Summer to dry the place out!
Graham
