Champagne Classic is a garden party with classic cars, period dress (for those so inclined), Champagne reception, jazz, cabaret and auction of promises. Bring a picnic or buy from the barbeque. The admission charge (£10/head) includes your first glass of Champagne (two glasses each or a bottle between four if you pre-book and dress in period). The event is sponsored by Laurent-Perrier and will benefit the Helen and Douglas House hospices and other charities. The organiser will relax the pre 1973 date of manufacture cut off for cars to allow us to attend.

They are asking for a list of cars that would be turning up. If you are interested just let me know on the forum or email (jamesdbrickell@aol.com) for now so I can pass on the information.

This is the link for the entry forms of the Champagne classic.

I will also have some with me on the Cotswold rally. I will be in my red 928 so not too hard to find.

I filmed this event last year for a TV channel last year. It's held in a great location and is very English event with about a 100 static displays. Organised by the Rotary Club of Kingham and Daylesford, it struck me as a rather elite affair, a bit like a scaled down Goodwood Revival, without the chavs.

It features mostly British classic pre-war and post war cars and a few interesting and rare cars displayed there such as Bugatti 47s, 4.5L blower Bentleys, D types and rare Rolls-Royces. The Bentley Drivers' Club seem to dominate everything. I chickened out and took the Land Rover as I felt turning up in the Porsche might have provoked a re-run of WW2. [:)]

Tip: If you go, wear a blazer and/or regimental tie.

This event is next on our calendar. If you are interested you can still pre-book to get your champagne or arrive on the day. If you could just let me know so we have an idea of numbers.

We are planning to meet up at Cornbury House at 10:00 before proceeding in convoy to Kingham.
See you there.

Just to remind all members that Champagne Classic is open to all members this Sunday 1st July. Several members from R31 will be there. Why not turn up? The weather will be fine and sunny and the entertainment great.

See:www.champagneclassic.org.uk

Cornbury house at 10 am if you wish to drive in convoy.

Tickets still available from 01608646155 or the website

This is also called the Mini Goodwood, so if you can't afford Goodwood prices and want a run out, you know where to go.

Champagne Classic today. Due to Cornbury House not opening until later, we are meeting at the Mill House Hotel Kingham (for coffee) at 10:15 then proceeding in convoy to the venue. The weather should be ok, but not pefect.

Despite a cloudy morning and the promise of a few light showers, eleven members of R31 met at the Mill House hotel in Kingham today to drive in convoy up the hill to Kingham Hill School to attend the Champagne Classic. The weather turned better after the BBQ and we all had a very good time. Photos to be posted later.

It should be noted that of the R31 party only Su & Derek were in period dress! However, many of the cars present were!
