Hi I feel that I should change the gearbox oil on my 1994 C2 ,mileage is 63,000. does any one think it is worth doing? if I am changing the oil I was going to use Swepco.
Any views?
PS I have just spent aprox 1 1/2 hours putting the car onto ramps and stands. I have removed the G/box undertray all looks well except for some oil film on the near side I would not say it was wet and there is never any oil drips on the garage floor. Thanks

Keith - yes - I am a great believer in changing gearbox oil. No idea what the schedule says but for me every 20k miles or so. I have heard that swepco is good but seems to be best on the 3.2 gearbox rather than on the 964. I looked into it a few years ago and decided on the standard stuff.

Sure you will have some other views before long! And also what the service book says!

Many thanks, the how too site is realy usefull. Although I have already purchased oil Castrol Driveline Syntrax 75W 90 this is the grade specified but no mention was made as to the oil manufacturer. I do not have a problem with gear change, I just want to ensure that the transmission is filled correctly.

Fill the gearbox up until it starts to run back out, that will be your level correct.
I used a big syringe and a meter length of pipe to make things easier when filling as the car was on the floor but if you can get access you can just squirt the fluid in (gearbox oil containers usually have a pop out tube)
Use plenty of rags as the stuff stinks!!!!
Also, try and thin the oil out by ptting an un-opened bottle in a bucket of warm water before filling.
