Changing over seat backs.....

I was just wondering how easy/tricky it is to change over the driver and passenger seat backs?

Thought it might make sense whilst the driver's side is in decent nick and the passenger side is near new.

Do you need to take the seats out?....checked Clarks Garage but no mention.

If it's not too much of a PITA, I'm sure a lot a folks would find this worth doing

You can leave the seats in place and just remove and swapover the backs, it's a couple of bolts each side once the plastic cover is off. Hardest bit is refitting the cable attachment for the tilt levers

It is so long ago that I did mine I can't remember if I took the whole seat out of not. IIRC, while it can be done in place, it is easier to remove the seat.

Thanks for that Paul, is there more detailed info on PET? I haven't downloaded it again since changing laptop.

Anybody else done this? I remember changing a snapped cable on my Scirocco driver seat was a complete bar stewart []

You can do it in situ.
First, remove the two Philips head screws holding the cover on -- when you put these back on DO NOT overtighten the screws as the plastic will crack.
Second, undo the cables either side -- this involves taking off the small circlip and pulling off the shiny oval shaped hook. Memorise how the cable is attached and what angle the oval is at, although it's not that crucial, I'm not sure you can get it back on the wrong way but test the seat tilt before you put the covers back on.
Thirdly, remove the two hex bolts at either side. 13mm maybe 14mm. I forget although I have a sneaking suspicion it may be the latter.
Swap and reassemble.
Shouldn't take you more than an hour or so.

Cheers Paul, I'll give it a try, weather permitting, and thanks for the tips.

Reckon it's well worth doing to share the wear.
