Changing Seat Backs

Does anyone know if the front seat backs of my 88 turbo can be swapped over? The usual wear injury on the right hand drivers bolster is the only thing spoiling my otherwise pristine black leather interior. I realsie the whole seat cannot be swaped due to the location of the electric seat swithches but I just thought if the damage was shifted to the middle it might not be as obvious. At least until I can afford to get the damage fixed, which might be sometime!!!

Yes, it's a common thing to do.

The seat back is attached by a couple of bolts under the plastic cover were it hinges. The trickiest part is to unclip and refit the cables that attach to the tilt catch on the side of the bolster. Luckily there is a catch on both sides which is the reason they can be swapped over

Thanks for that Paul I gad gussed because of the double release catches it could be quite simply done. Being a Porsche though you never do you [:D]

Second thread on seats here in a couple of hours ...

Good Q. Now I am wondering why I didn't swap the backs over on the new seats I put in my S2 last year, to distribute the wear on the side bolsters a bit more evenly ...

Maybe that's a job for some time when I have a couple of hours spare. Shame, it'll be a difficult one as the seats are heavy to get in and out of the car. And I don't think you can take the backs off while they are in situ, can you?

Yes it's no problem, plenty of space and not too fiddly with the seats still in the car

Really? Thanks, I'll have a go then. You take the plastic hinge covers off and then it's a couple of large bolts on each side, isn't it?

I may have a go while staying with the in-laws at Christmas. ([:)])
