Changing Steering Wheel

Help and knowledge required!

I am thinking of changing my four spoke steering wheel for the three spoke and following up on the C4S being broken for spares thread that appeared on the forum, I have the chance of the three spoke from this car.

The salvidge yard is offering the wheel without the airbag, if I want the airbag I have to buy the whole of the dash and other airbags at a whopping £1500 + VAT ( bearing in mind a new Porshe fitted wheel is only about 600 -700 quid)

I have no idea about the process of changing the wheels and how easy or difficult it is. Can anybody advise on the best way to go about this change.
Can the the airbag I have in the 4 spoke be interchanged with the three spoke? will the wheel from a 2004 car fit a 2000 car, I suspect not but any help will be greatly appreciated.

That doesn't make sense.
What good is the airbag from the wheel to them? The dash and other airbags have nothing to do with this one.

That's what I thought, unless they don't want to break up the whole of the dash so they can sell it as a complete unit.

I emailed them back and said I was only interested in the wheel c/w airbag and as of yet they don't seem to want to sell it in that configuration.

Annoying because it is the same colour as my interior (grey) and I don't normally get that lucky.

Have you considered other options?

For instance Ruf sell a range of smaller diameter airbag wheels (in the right colours). Cost not too exhorbitant. I'm aiming to get one for the next car...

Arbee I changed the wheel on my C2 last year - the process is a piece of cake.

I paid about £350 for a three spoke wheel including airbag from pistonheads classified. They regularly appear on ebay also.

I am not aware of a pre facelift/facelift issue however as Mark says you can get a good quality non OEM three spoke wheel for £500 and upwards inc airbag so don't be ripped off by this breaker.

Give me an e-mail address to my private e-mail and I will send you instructions for changing the wheel over

Surely the issue here is that the air bag has gone off ? and needs replacement, and is possibly linked to the other airbags somehow no ?

I have the oportunity to buy a 3 spoke but without the airbag / centre, can you buy those separately ?

Dear Tispki,

I did pose that question, has the airbag been deployed and they wrote back to say it hadn't.

I would like to know the same as the wheel without the bag was £100 + VAT
