Hey all,
I think I remember reading somewhere that when changing the clutch on a 993 C4 the engine doesn't need to be taken out....can anyone confirm this or am I talking rubbish?
Cheers!

Hi have changed them on C2s so see no reason why you cannot on a C4. I would think it would be diffcult with out a lift, by the way I do have a genuine 993 clutch kit in stock available at a discount! Regards Berny.

I got the clutch on my C4 replaced last year by an indy and he told me that the engine didn't need to come out but it did need to be dropped a few inches. Still a lot of effort but not as much as a full removal.

BTW check the fork carefully as apparently these can partially seize.

Ditto the comment from Clyde. My C4 had the clutch changed by Templeton's of Rushden who didn't need to drop the engine to do it. I supplied the clutch kit so they only charged labour. They did change some seal (RMS?) that they say is worth doing when you do the clutch as they only cost £20 and could leak if left. Maybe someone can confirm the name of this seal. I'll try to dig out the invoice later and post the part number if you're interested.

Thanks very much for the replies all. Sidned, don't worry about digging out that part number, I'm sure I'll find it when I'm going to get the work done.
