Changing wheel colour

I know back in the day you could spec any colour for a Boxster's wheels, so there are some out there with non-silver.

But what are people's thoughts on changing the colour today?

I'm thinking of changing my silver 17 inch S II wheels to gloss black, to give the car a slightly more modern feel.

They need doing, when you are too close you can see peeling etc.

Also where are the best places to get black centre caps from?

Thanks

Hi, I’m going to have the wheels on my 2005 Boxster refurbished because corrosion is appearing on the inner rims of two wheels. Having thought about it long and hard I’ve decided to stay with classic silver in the original shade.
I don‘t think totally black wheels since there is little definition between wheels and tyres, even worse on black or dark blue cars. Wheels with black centres and silver rims, Fuchs style do look good. Thats just my opinion and thankfully we don’t all think alike. It’s your car, your money, so do what appeals to you.
I will probably use The Wheel Specialist who in the case of their Leeds branch have an excellent reputation and are used by two of the top Porsche Independents. I was a bit shocked with the price quoted of £350 inclusive of VAT, tyre fitting and balancing, 24 hour turnaround.

Agree with the comment - I really don't like black wheels. An anthracite grey I think looks good on some cars. Silver still the best colour :)

I agree with Richard. Black wheels look awful - especially when there is no silver edge to break it up from the tyre.

I had my silver wheels on my previous 997 painted black with a silver rim and regretted it. I should have stayed with silver.

That's said my wife loves black wheels!

not a fan of black wheels here either - standard gt silver fine by me - or for something a bit different the darker silvers/shadow chrome colours look pretty good.

I quite like the satin platinum finish.

I don't particularly like black wheels but I think it depends a lot on the body colour. This looks OK to me.
