This is a planned drive out and lunch/afternoon tea in support of Laura Heney’s chosen charity. Laura is the daughter of our good friends Jeremy and Melanie Heney (R18) and she has recently been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We would like to support her in whatever way we can through her journey and any donations received on the day will go to her chosen charity. We have been invited to join R22 and R18 along with friends and other Porsche Owners, who also know the Heney’s who would also like to get involved. The idea is simple, a leisurely drive out then meet at the chosen venue Lowther Castle, Penrith (CA10 2HH) where we will take pride of place, parked on the North Terrace in front of the Castle.

The plan will be to have a leisurely start from the North East (start point to be confirmed) and aim to arrive around 11.00am onwards where we can park up and have a natter and a bite to eat, so why not bring a picnic and your chairs. No timescales, no set format just come along and enjoy a great drive out and help us to support Laura’s cause. Donations will be totally discretionary so don’t feel obliged to donate if you do not want to.

Unfortunately I will be on holiday and miss the run out in support of Laura whose father i got to meet on the Dinslaken tour and pleased to have him as a very good friend.

My thoughts are with Laura and family and im sure the outcome will be a positive one.

The link below is to the fundraiser page and as Greg has pointed out totally discretionary.

Michelle and myself will be pleased to join you for this great cause. I think we are going to have to purchase a picnic hamper and chairs though.

It’s my birthday that day and have family plans already.

Have a a good one though.

David Bradford and I are planning the non-Boxster breakfast route to Lowther Castle. Our plan is to have an R3 (Boxsters also welcome) Breakfast at either Lanchester Garden Centre or A68 Cafe, meeting at 9am and departing 10am'ish.

To gauge interest and help with planning would all interested please let us know by reply to this forum post stating any preference A68 Cafe/Lanchester Garden Centre - we know this is a few weeks away yet so not asking for a firm commitment, just wish to get an idea of numbers and preference to aid planning.

Thanks - Philip & David

Not sure I can make it yet but A68 Cafe is only 15 miles “the wrong way” rather than 30!

Glad you’ve both recovered from your hard work yesterday😀

Thanks for getting back so quickly Gordon, all rested, a crafty beer sorted me out - and hope you enjoyed concoursing your GTS

Regards - Philip

Breakfast and a drive out to Penrith sounds good to me Philip.....I'm easy either way on the food venue and will go with the flow...

cheers

John

Hi Philip & David

Sounds like a great run out for a great cause!

We'll meet for breakfast if it's at A68 Cafe Toft Hill, but will meet you en route if it's Lanchester as that's a bit too far 'the wrong way' for us in terms of driving to Penrith.

Picnic and chairs will be packed.

John & Gillian

either would work for me. Very much hoping to make it...

ps. but does Lanchester open early enough?

Hi Richard, thanks for your response - I have checked both websites and confirm both open at 9am on Sunday for food - just to be sure I will phone and confirm with our chosen venue before firming up, thanks for the prompt.

Regards - Philip

Hi Greg,

I should be ok for this one, I'll look forward to seeing where the meet is starting from.

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks for your support greg&debs, it's greatly appreciated by laura, Mel and me.

Count me in.

I’ve not been to the A68 Cafe before so I would have a slight preference for there but that aside either venue works for me.

Thanks for all the messages of support, we will confirm the meeting place and route for those not at the Boxster Breakfast shortly after 1 September in this Forum thread.

Expressions of interest still welcome so that we have an idea of numbers.

Enjoy the sunny Bank Holiday weekend - Philip & David
