Saturday March 14th Visit to Chartwells Patrick Bower from region 8 has invited us to join r8 on a visit to Chartwells approved Porsche body repair shop. Chartwells not only hold a Porsche franchise they also repair Aston Martin, Ferrari and Bentley.
They also have a scheme where if you do have an accident in your car in the UK they will arrange collection, repair, courtesy car and deal with your insurance company.
This is free to sign up to and could be invaluable if the worst happens. Come along to find out more.

The plan is to meet at the Bear for coffee at 10.30 leave at 11.00 have a run out to Chartwells, which is located at Pride Park (Derby) arriving for 12.00. We will be given a tour of the workshops then provided with a buffet lunch. Chartwells will also have technicians Available to advise if you have any bodywork issues with your own car.
Patrick assures me this is a great day out having previously attended with the Ferrari owners club.

Please let me know if you wish to attend so I can arrange invitations, Paul Seagrave RO

A very good day out yesterday [:D]
The weather obviously helped on route [:)]

A very impressive premises that Chartwell have, certainly above places I have visited prior..
Good coffee and comfy chairs were in order, on site addition included OPC Nottingham and the local B&O dealer :p so the right mix for sure
Even the finger buffet they provided us with was divine [8D]

Those that registered had a chance to try their hand at spraying and this was the full works as in mask, covers and in the heated spray booth!! we do have some odd pictures available...[;)]
An excellent turnout with the carpark full of Porsche's being well looked after by Chartwells own security man. I think it was about 200 people in attendance.

So well done and big thank you to both Region 8 RO Patrick and Chartwells for the invitation.

It was certainly interesting and thanks go to Patrick for the invite. The buffet was very good but I will admit to being a tad purturbed at the wheel alignment presentation since the mechanic giving the talk knew very little about the implications of changes to the alignment and it was obvious their knowledge was limited to returning a car to the manufacturers specification. I guess that's what they are intended to do but it just makes you realise just how much there IS to know when it comes to tuning cars and suspension.

I was also amazed to see the rough state of the internals of a Ferrari once you can see under the glossy exterior. Just goes to show that the difference between a Porsche and a Ferrari is a lot more than skin deep!!

Regards

Dave

Something I also noticed !
However I did look at the 3 cutaway models and saw the extrusions of Aluminum in the Aston and Ferrari only to look at a pretty standard steel tub of the Porsche... [&:]
Then looking at the Ferrari being repaired in the far end did make it look at bit kit car under the wonderful shiny skin...
