There's a guy called Len Munro based in Brisbane Australia who has a database of 993 RS chassis numbers.

Here's his update:

Hi Porsche Friends ---
I hope that you all still have your 993RS,s & perhaps another Porsche as well!
Please let me know if you have up graded from your RS to a Cup car or if you have the Vin #- of any other RS owner.
The highest Vin # to date for model 1994/95 is 0274
& model 95/96 is 0849 making a TOTAL of 1123 cars built.[ Ferrari built more F40 cars than Porsche built 993RS's]

In April 2008 my Wife, Car & i moved to Brisbane, Australia & joined our children. What a beautiful country & so much safer than South Africa!
We did our first Porsche Club run into the country on Sunday 370K'm return trip.
Hope to hear that you still have your RS,s
When i am driving my RS i do not Envy any one or any other car on the road!!

Out of interest, what is the lowest vin number you have seen ?

I think the numbers you quote are freely available in magazines such as Flat Six .... if you are looking for production numbers ?

If anyone is interested I can e mail you Len's file. He has around 50 chassis numbers and specs. Bit anorak I know but interesting to see where your car fits in! If he's right mine is 12th from last made.

Hi Mike , i did contribute to that list ,never see a copy ..........would be keen to see and maybe add my ;atest , do cup cars count ?

Will ask him for the latest and e mail to you Vic. If anyone else wants a copy let me know, in return he'd appreciate chassis numbers and a brief spec from you.

Yes please Mike, and of course my info in return.

Vin Numbers --- 1995 --- 99SS390001 to 390274 (224 cars)
Vin Numbers --- 1996 --- 99TS390001 to 390849 (790 cars)

Of which around 80 ? are RHD and 290 odd are Clusport M003 --- all LHD.

Can anybody be more precise ?

Mike I would appreciate the list please.

Have asked Len for the latest one and will forward it to anyone who wants it. You need to give me your VIN numbers and a brief spec, colour, RHD/LHD, basic options etc for him.

There is a lot of stuff re chassis numbers in the 993 King Of Porsche book but it looks like a lot of it is wrong based on Chris's numbers above.

Is there a definitive list of the numbers of cars made? I hear 1123 and around 80-100 RHD but is this verified by Porsche anywhere?

Cheers

Mines a 95 with TS390191 which would indicate a 96 car ?? and number 658 of the production run

Chris, when you post 80 rhd 993RS and 290 Clubbies all Lhd, where do these figures come from?...they seem different to figures we have previously seen quoted or come to accept...cheers.

Don't go into one, I am not saying you are wrong, just a different set of figures.

Absolutely Steve, there were so many of them on display at Silverstone Classic!
Well Paul Im hoping to see you and your clubbie at Silverstone this year or maybe Oulton sooner, that, if the strong Euro does not
tempt you into a life long regrettable sale [:(]

The Vin numbers come from The "Guide D'Achat" of Flat 6 a couple of years back.

The Numbers of RHD --- was a guess around the figure I believe to be correct --- open to bids !

The number of M003 is supposed be around the same as 964 M003's (so I was told) --- but of course there are 7 RHD M003's that are known --- all the 964 M003's are LHD although there may be one RHD in Australia ?? !

Corrected --- would be interested to see your numbers ??

P.S. MIne's SS390009 --- and if I ever go off on one, please feel free to pull me back to earth !!

I helped Len with this list some years ago,50 odd is not many.I have a list from porsche for all the uk cars, there is around 50 rhd on the list for the uk alone.
There are more than 80 for sure.I am planning to go to the new museum at some point this year, and hopefully get access to the archives for the correct numbers,or what about a trip down some time.
I am trying to also get to the bottom of how many rsr were made,as i have had a few numbers bounced around of 15,22 and 30!I have numbers for 11 so far.

Mike the king 993 book has so many errors and not much to go on.
Chris W car is the earliest i have seen, which is Fred old car is it not.,i have also not seen a T chassis clubsport yet, every one on the register is a S chassis.

I cannot post the file on the site for some reason so drop me an e mail on mike.cooper@phdnetwork.com and I will send you the file. Need your number and brief spec.

Paul, I know that 9 RHD 993RS's were sold in Hong Kong, 4 in Singapore originally. A large proportion of these were damaged at some stage and two were stored in the Porsche dealer's basement which got flooded in a typhoon!

When I asked the number of RS/CS at Zuffenhausen while doing the servicing of mine, I was answered 170 Clubsport (after mine contact there made a small research...). (sorry for my poor english, I'm better in french [;)])

I also would love to visit the new museum --- a Forum trip ?

Yes my car did belong to Fred H and has quite an interesting history.

It should be going back onto the original suspension with new springs and bushes as we speak --- so I really hope to enjoy what you all keep raving about !

As an aside, I am planning to return the old KW Variant 3's to KW for refurbishing --- I'd be interested in loaning them out to competent parties who might like to try them with minimum commitment --- but the fitting and removal with double geo's required may make it unrealistic.

What do you reckon.

Worth a seperate Post ?
