Cheap insurance?

Sylvian

New member
Whats the cheapest insurance company for ultra low mileage weekend car usage of a boxster? Im 28 with a really good driving record and I cannot get below £700 for 2000 miles per annum.

Hi

My circumstances are different but when I insured my Boxter I got a very competitive quote from: Ramasis Insurance

tel no;0844 8800 961

I have kept my insurance with them for some time and have found their service very good so you may wish to check them out if you have not done so already?

Good luck!

Hi Slyvian

I use Classic Line Insurance, fully comp with track day cover, 3k limit.

Might be worth a shout.

Gazza.

Hi, you did'nt say which company offered you the cheapest quote? I do feel your age will be a big factor as your under 30. The other factor is male or female with the ladies being a lesser risk with the vehicle your trying to insure.

I am waiting for my renewal to drop through the door and I am expecting an increase as most premiums are going up. I have been with Admiral for the past 4 years they have always offered the lowest quote.

Privilege at £620 was my cheapest quote and im happy with it, but i just want to get it as cheap as possible.

Sometimes, your own insurer will do a special deal if you're the only driver as you can be in only one car at a time.

But £620 even for limited mileage with no NCD allowed does sound pretty good.

I tend to go back to Pearts brokers from time to time and I do know they will allow a good discount if you're a customer using a second car.

Hi I have just had my renewal in from Admiral who were wanting £311.38. however I have had a quote from Swiftcover at £181.93 basic cover with mileage at 3K. Guess turning 50 does have a perk [:)]

Yes, that is good! Last year I paid IIRC £640 to Manning and that's with 9 years NCD (wanted lots of track day cover). But these days, its so much of a lottery, its difficult to compare. Read this morning of a guy with Admiral. On renewal his premium was going to be > £1k. So he tries gocomparethemoneysupermarketdotcom to then get a best quote for around £770 - from Admiral.

No such thing as loyalty with most insurers, I know some include some track day cover I'm with Saga who include unlimited european travel ( subject to mileage agreed ) and I'm due to renew in a few weeks, unsure whether to stay with Saga for the foreign use or search for track cover.

Anyone know who includes the track cover?

I renewed a few weeks ago, £445 was my renewal price from Swiftcover but called Adrian Flux and they got it down to £380 through a company called Groupama. Seemingly they liked the idea that I'd had the car for a year and not rumped it! Anyway, I have a 2005 Boxster S and I have limited mileage to 5K per annum. 7 years protected NCD. I was quite pleased with the deal.

If you are a Club Member, you will recieve Porsche file every 3mths along with Porsche post, there are about 7 insurers advertising some of which give good discounts to PCGB members. Best to call them all as I did to find the best deal for you as everyone's details are different.

Alan.

I'm with Saga now but was with Groupama through Pearts Insurance before that, this is for my main insurance and am expecting a quote from them soon for my renewal. They were reasonable for 12000 miles/year.

I was paying £80 a month for a 2002 Boxster S with Direct Line. Got fed up with paying that much for a mostly weekend car so checked out prices on Money SuperMarket and they were much cheaper. Went to Direct Line as a new customer and they quoted about £480 a year so called them to ask why cheaper as a new customer. They said they could "probably do something" if my policy was up for renewal, which it wasn't, but as a pay monthly customer I could cancel for an admin charge of £15 and then re-insure with them. I asked if this was really the only way and they said yes, so I cancelled over the phone and that rep then transferred me to a another rep who took all my details and re-insured the same car with the same details for £40 a month! Weird way to do it but £40 a month savings for about 30 mins on the phone. btw, Direct Line also pretty efficient and cheap for adding extra temporary drivers, which I do quite often i.e. letting my nephew or a friend borrow it when I'm away on hols.
